I'm trying to figure out the best settings to use for using the SP1000SS in DAC mode with Audivarna

I use "Exclusive", "Integer", and "DoP" settings on both Audirvana and Roon. On SPK side, I always set to DoP. This setting affects only incoming DSD signal, nothing to do with PCM. If you choose PCM option, DSD signal will be converted to PCM on SPK.

I found DSD cleaner and smoother, FLAC a bit more lively and exciting. Same album, same player, same IEM's. I stopped using DSD.

This is huge topic. It is just different kind of saving music.
If you have DSD and PCM (FLAC, WAV) files of the same album release, give it a go and compare. The important thing is: the same album release!

I don't hear the difference between these.

I heard difference easily.
Method : Use HF player (extra feature unlocked) to play ANY flac track 16/44 in two ways : direct and pcm to dsd.
The signal pass to a dsd dac.
On a good detail hp, not difficult for me to heard difference.
Some one is going to say that bcs of error processing?
No.
I cant hear a 24/96 flac when doing the same way.
Or is that meaning my dac is better in processing dsd than pcm?

And, the question was "DoP" on spk that means, he/she will play a dsd track. In case spk process dsd to pcm (by some reason, ex the dac is not dsd capatible) then sq is not good as dsd native/dop

When playing with the tidal apk app has anyone experienced the following?

With the screen off when I use the skip buttons on the side it skips forward 4 or 5 tracks. When the screen is o It skips forward one track. Is this a known issue? Is there a remedy for this?

Have it on sideload apk.
Embeded tidal is okay.
I think reason not relate to the dap

@JasonNYC Were you able to get an update on roon availability? Right now I am using a PI3 with roon bridge and wifi, strapped to a battery, strapped to the SP1000 in usb DAC mode. Would be nice to loose some of that bulk.

unfortunately nothing new. I confirmed with our dev team at the end of last week that we are still waiting on feedback from the Roon team.

Our players will support up to 2TB cards as long as the cards follow the current microSD card standards. The new 1TB cards announced should work without issue. We recommend formatting all cards as FAT32 for best results.

I’d love to hear the gold Sp1000m and compare it to the WM1Z, but there aren’t any around at the moment.

Incidentally, is there any reason A&K didn’t include a BT receive mode in these products? It would be sooo convenient.

The reason other DAPs (N8, LPGT, etc) include BT Rx mode because they don't have native streaming and need to be paired up with a smartphone to "run" apps. The latest batch of A&K DAPs, and their fw updates, allow apk sideloading so you can run streaming apps right from your DAP. Kind of defeats the purpose of BT Rx mode since it will be redundant to pair up A&K with your smatphone, unless if you want to run some blacklisted app which can't be sideloaded.

The battery in my SPK is very hot.

I was on the metro and it started getting too hot to hold. Now it’s off but he battery is still very hot. If I try Turing it on I see the low battery icon.
I just got but it won’t charge, turn on, and my PC can’t see it when plugged in. How do I reset or what can I do so the player doesn’t melt?

My player is overheating. It won’t turn on yet the battery is very hot. I was on the metro going home listening to music when it became too hot to hold. I turned it off and it stayed hot. Now I’m at home, the player of off and won’t turn on but it’s still getting hotter. What can I do?
