New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

The SP1000 is definitely high on my list of to-try items! I love the AK380, but it sounds a lot more fantastic when paired with an amp (Rx Mk3-B+). If the SP1000 as a standalone player matches the AK380 + amp in performance, I think I'm sold.

Besides, that screen looks gorgeous.

I dont think it will match the 380 with a real amp.

Its weight is more than double the weight of the ak380cu, which was already on the heavy side of portable. I don't get who the target user of this is- if you're gonna be locked into a device that's transportable at best, why not go for a hugo2 stack? It would be cheaper and sound better. Sure, you're dealing with a stack, but if you've already committed to a larger footprint, who cares?

Double the weight of the 380cu? Oh my gosh! Sure it is portable in the of transporting it from A to B, but in everybody day life, listening to Music from home to work whilst having this brick in the pocket? Äh, no thanks.

Actually, there will be a module coming up later this year that works like poly, which supports sd card and can be controlled via smartphone.
In a sense the Hugo2 + module can be used as a Dap.

Come on guys, we live in an age where info is a few clicks away.

The weight of AK380Cu is 350g. And the weight of A&u SP1000Cu is 388g. That's a 10% increase in weight, not 100%.

You good with numbers. I rounded it to 100% heavier.

There will be a Hugo+Poly/Hugo2+Poly in the work...so depending on the available dates, will definitely be my way ahead rather than these giant (and expensive) DAP stacks...actually Mojo+Poly already looks a very interesting proposition, at least for me
