I thought some of you might be interested in these new IEM coming soon (some have been released already) to complement your sp1000 or sp2000. Apologies if not all information is all correct.

Guys, a couple of questions about ripping using the A&K ripper if I may.

1). Is there a way to force a Gracenote lookup for existing tracks on your machine or does it only work at the time of doing a rip?

and

2). Is there a way to manually choose which tracks to rip if you are also doing a Gracenote lookup. If my WiFi is off I am told Gracenote can't be found and I can then select which tracks to rip but if it is on it seems to automatically connect to Gracenote and starts to do full rip of the CD.

Cheers for any feedback on this.

Thanks to all those who responded to my question about walking around with an SP1000. I now have one. I can walk with this, especially considering the sound quality. I'm pretty blown away (I'm coming from an AK240SS and the difference is not subtle).

I'm using Shure SE535s which are a lot cleaner than I ever gave then credit for (the distortion I was hearing must have been the 240). I'm sure I can do better than the 535s and I guess that will be my next search.
Going from a 240SS to an SP 1000 is clearly an upgrade. I don’t think the 240 was distorting your Shure, as it is a very clean DAP. But if you want the most out of the SP you will need a more TOTL iem. My Angie was good with both but it wasn’t good enough with the SP. (My UERM was.) Get something better and you will be very pleasantly happy.

Has anybody tried the sp1000 amp yet. Just wondering what it does to the sound.

Thank you for responding. What is TOTL ?

EDIT: just realized this is top of the line. Can you suggest some brands other than UE?

@JasonNYC or anyone else. Can the sp1000 be used to listen as an external DAC/AMP from an android phone? If so, how do I go about it? I remember I got this to work for a customer using the sr15 because he wanted to listen to YouTube from the sr coming from his phone, but I forgot how it was done.
Cheers.

Ok so I got it to work with my sr15 probably because I used a different USB cable. I enabled USB debugging in developer options and set the USB configuration to audio output. The SR can then be set to USB dac mode. It only seems to work when using UAPP app, which is what I wanted. However, it's almost unusable because everytime a track starts, an audible glitching occurs and continues for about 10 seconds. Am I doing something wrong?

Although not officially supported, I know people usually use an OTG cable to connect phone to AK DAP and then enable USB DAC mode on the player with sucess. I can't find my OTG cable at the moment. Once I find it, I will test with my Android phone and SP1000.

How can I use the SP1000 in my car?
When I connect it via USB, my car only plays FLAC files that are compressed to CD quality. It won't even see files above.
I have a feeling it's still using my car's DAC, but I'd like to use SP1000 dac and library and play it in my car.

If you connect via USB, you will bypass the internal DAC of the SP1000 and use the car head unit. You would need to connect to an aux port on your head unit via 3.5mm to 3.5mm for best quality.
