New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

Hey guys I use Tidal Hi-Fi for music and was thinking of getting SP1000M as it has Tidal Offline.
However, seeing as their entry level SR15 will also support Tidal Offline I am seriously considering SR15 over SP1000M as its 3x cheaper.
As far as Audio Quality is concerned, especially considering since I am going to just listen to Tidal which is CD quality, is there actually any difference in sound quality between SR15 and SP1000M? Anyone had a chance to compare these 2 players?

Keep in mind that before end of the year they will add mqa support (now it is official) so tidal quality will be more than enough to be heard between players. I

I must admit that I did not listen the sr15... but if there is no different in sound quality we spend 2800$ more for a bigger heavier one..

There is a difference but only you can put a value on to it.... it depends on yoUr ears, headphones and cable... even with Tidal..

Although I think it is not worth to get sp1000 just for Tidal

I’ve got a rather meticulous question: what has “better” sound quality using the sp1000 in DAC usb mode through a Mac Pro, or straight from the sp1000 itself?

Also, could someone explain the two DAC modes to me in laymen’s terms?

The Bold text you wrote is the key part lol, I am planning to use only Tidal...

Just an FYI, there have been a number of streaming app updates for Android in the last 24 hours. These will need to be downloaded and manually updated on AK players.

Current Versions:
Tidal – v. 2.9.7
SiriusXM – 5.2.5
Qobuz – v. 5.0.2
Pandora – v. 1810.2

Amazon Music was updated on 10/24/18. Current version is 15.17.2

I'm still having real problems connecting my unit to a hugo 2 to use as a source on my home rig. The hugo 2 is fine as I can hook it up to my phone via usb and I think the ak1000 is okay as I can use it as a dac for my laptop. But just cannot get an output to the hugo. I've tried various usb cables to no avail so wondering if I need to change settings. Could anyone try and assist? Otherwise it may be faulty...

Sorry, just saw your PM and replied to you.

When you connect the hugo2 via USB, when you swipe down from the top, you will see the External USB icon. It should be lit up indicating that you have an external device connected to the USB. Hit the icon and it should spin for a second, then connect and show in small wording below the icon that a device is connected.

I'm getting skipping within many tracks, if I replay the same track it's always in the same song/place.
It's not in the FLAC file on my PC. If I overwrite the bad file on my SP1000 it'll go away for that track, but I find myself taking notes to preserve the integrity of the files on my SP1000. It's distracting.
Anyone else having this issue?

I had the same issue with SR15, but the re-scan helped.
