If I didn't already have the SP1000 SS then I would definitely buy this. Had it been available at the same time as buying my SP1000 I probably would have chosen this over the SP1000 due to the weight and size. That being said having owned the SP1000 for a while the size and weight is not a problem for me at all so in hindsight I probably would have made the wrong choice for the wrong reasons. Just goes to show you can sometimes have too many choices lol.

Got to be honest im not a huge fan of the blue colour either although it might look better in a blue leather case?

The firmware update is very welcome and helps make the SP1000 even more versatile IMHO.

Has anyone tested the Empire Ears Legend X with SP1000? I am thinking of getting one as soon as the new batch of EELXs arrives here in Germany.

I don't understand their strategy.
How will they justify the price of AK SP 1000? SP 1000M is like a twin brother and less expensive. I don't think there will be any sound differences.
I am feeling that I have wasted my money on sp1000.

So i can understand that.....because the SP1000 will be the only player which you can use with an amp module in the future

You are right .SP 1000M lacks the 5 pin balanced port for future external devices.

Lets keep it real....in the past there were the ak380 aluminum ak380 cu and the ak380 ss, this is the sp1000 aluminium....is easy to understand....i think....there is the size diference that is obvious and the sound will not be the same, like in the past

This is the 240 guts being stuck in the 120ll and sold for less all over again, only in blue. When I moved from the 120ll to a 240SS there was a sonic improvement and a storage improvement (and a visual improvement). I'm guessing about $500 less. Again, ehh. Gonna be a lot of SP1000s on the For Sale thread soon, time to snap up a good used one.
