Hey all,

Recently, I've gone into looking for a pair of headphones. I've usually just been a grab some earbuds and keep going kind of guy, but I'm become tired of having to buy a new pair every 2 months because the previous didn't handle the stress of potential over-use. But, as the title says, I'm new to the headphone scene and don't quite know what I'm looking for. I want to get a set that's good quality, but not bulky; portable enough to wear to class around my neck comfortably or in my bag with a case; and, forgive me, fashionable.

From asking around and doing a bit of research online, I've found Reloop RHP-5s which look really good and from what I've heard from friends have decent quality but aren't very sturdy; there are also the Sennheiser PX 200-IIs that I haven't seen a bad review for nor do they look bad; the Urbanears Plattans are kind of plain but not so much that it's a turn off; and I took a look at The Trooper by Nixon. But, again, I don't exactly know what to look for in headphones.

I'm not looking to spend more than $150, but may make an exception if it's not too far over. I listen to a lot of bass-heavy music, if that helps. And I'll be using them often for hours on end.

Thanks for any help in advance.

EDIT: Beats by Dre are out. Sounds childish, but too many people own a pair. They're over-hyped, in my opinion.

Here's a comparison that is as good as you are going to get: http://www.head-fi.org/t/478568/multi-iem-review-245-iems-compared-phonak-pfe-232-added-07-05-12

But...

Now that you're a member on this forum, I'll tell you this. Even if you do find what you personally consider to be the best IEM - great sound, looks good, very durable, very comfortable, chances are very high that at some point you'll want something different just because. So, enjoy the journey, enjoy the music, and I am so sorry about your wallet.
