I'm looking to start getting familiarized with higher quality audio playback and everything related to it. I hear that headphone amps can produce quite the boost in sound quality substantially given that the headphones and source are of good quality, right?

After some help on the HardForum I've come to the conclusion of a pair of Sennheiser HD595's to boot. I will be listening only on my computer at home in a typically quiet environment. My system has a Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic currently which I am told is sufficient. Now as for an amplifier, I'm unsure. I was recommended an E-MU 0404 USB, but I hear that this is basically an external sound card, would this be ideal? My price range isn't too high, I'd say somewhere within the range of $200 or less. Any suggestions and further knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
