I joined here last month to read Jason Stoddard's follow-up. Started nosing around and realized it might be nice to get some new cans so I can dig some tunes while the bosslady is napping before she leaves for 3rd shift at Whirlpool. I do have a set of 25 year old AKG 240 monitors that 'might' need replacing so I looked around a bit here. Found some cool stuff which I can't find in sunny northeast Ohio so a trip to Pittsburgh and 'Music to my Ear' was in order. Found them here too....cool. Music to my Ear has a pretty wide selection of headphones and amplifiers to put an ear on. I've had my eye on the Audeze LCD-2s for what reason I couldn't tell you but whatever sense I had sending me in that direction was right on the mark. I listened to their top-tier phones and found them unlistenable,!!!!FOR ME!!!! cat claws on a chalkboard horrid. Now don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're great phones but I have issues with certain higher frequencies and both the -X and -XC  phone rubbed that nerve raw, but Sherry loved them. Just goes to show you. Now the LCD-2s....ahhhh heaven to my ears. My kind of synergy. They have the tonal balance I crave, fantastic bass response that seems very accurate great mids and very articulate highs that don't overwhelm my hearing. I listened to some of my favorites and my reference discs. Power was supplied by a Cavelli Liquid Gold but I don't remember what CD player was in front of it but the sonics were top notch.

My 2-channel rig consists of an EAR Yoshino V20 integrated amplifier, a modded Rega Planar3 with an SME 3009 typeIII arm and a Grado Statement Master1 LOMC cart, Fosgate Signature Phono pre and Spatial Audio M3 Turbo loudspeakers and on the digital side a Tascam CC-222 MKII to Yggdrasil and a newly acquired(should be here next week) Schiit Lyr. I can't wait to roll tubes in the Lyr. I have some deParavicini 7DJ8s I know will make it sing. My 2-channel rig has perfect synergy for my listening habits and needs. I picked the Yggdrasil and Hologram M3s to offset the tubes elsewhere in the rig and my plan worked out for me. my family can listen with me for hours and we don't get fatigued. In that vein I need headphones that compliment the sound I've spent 4 decades in search of and finally found.

That said, Freya and Vidar(possibly 2 if they can handle the 3-4 ohm load of the M3s) will probably find their way to me this year. My understanding is Schiit may have a pair of M3s on their premises and might know if Vidar can manage M3s in a bridged mode. I'm looking forward to building a BigSchiitStack to power my M3s.
