It is without a doubt, the DX-160 has reached legendary status for the ultimate sound quality in a very affordable price.
However, like any other device, it had its share of hiccups particularly wireless connections.
Hence, a new mid tier device is expected from a lot of users...

The other aspect why the 160 was so attractive, it is NOT a Mini of anything.
It does not sound like a smaller version of the 220, nor the smaller version of the 300.
It has its own tonal character.

Something else is very welcome.
Ibasso can use any chip set and apply FPGA in this model, too.
Yes, why not cirrus...

The DX160 has its own outstanding vibe, it's true, but I would welcome something else than the Cirrus, more natural and musical... AKM, ESS?
I'd prefer that they keep a similar neutral warm sound rather than going for a warmer sound like they did with the DX300.

That said, if they follow their old product release cycle a DX250 could be due for release soon, and the DX150 was a warm sounding unit.

9 hours nowadays simply won't do. users can't help but flicking thro' that screen, always looking for something
@ least 16 hours on FLAC is very ideal...

oh yes, the 200 series was totally forgotten. After the Max came out, then came 160, a new numbering series...

I love my DX160, but it does need an update. Are you posting a wish list, speculation or some fact on a product roadmap you've heard?

This is purely a speculation. @takeitblue was correct by saying the time is right for a new device.
I took this outside of the 160 thread, and as per the Ibasso Boss' (Paul) statement the wireless connection will remain as they are in the current condition.
Consider this a wish list thread, too...

Before the 300 was launched, i did a bit of research about the FPGA system, Chord was implementing this on the Mscaler, which i recently auditioned.
It was used as a DAC in conjunction w/ the cutest.
Playback sources were
Digital : a macbook on the Audirvana
Sonic impressions were consistent, very clean, probably the blackest background

There's a trend going on in my favorite shop in Tokyo.
From early last month, a lot of DX Max pre-owned units were on sale.
After a couple of weeks, they're ALL gone...
