Wow, good to see I wasn't alone in thinking this. I was just about to come post my impressions after the update to 2.03, and they very much echo that of flyer1. I feel that this update has made the player sound more natural/organic than the previous updates. There is now more blackness or clarity between notes, which sound more distinct and now the sense of the sound in 3-d is more heightened. Vocals are also more refined. At least these are my superficial findings.

Another comparison today using Stevie Wonder's definitive collection on MP3 320. As Honeyboy mentions:the 3d effect in the music and seperation between instruments is fantastic. I also now seem to notice a this time noticable effect when putting DSEE on but still not sure if I hear this correct..

Updated to 2.03 OTA last night, and it seems to have improved homescreen performance considerably!
Weird because I am pretty sure I had already updated to 2.03 ..

America: 0001
Canada: 0002 (I fail to understand why the US and Canadian versions are different, FCC vs. whatever Canadian equivalent?)
Asia-Pacific (including Hong Kong): 0009  (This is my è BUILD 0009 com o Original FirmWare)
Mainland China: 0013
0005 seems to be the European version. Or one of them at least...

With 2.03 the battery seems to be lasting longer, without wifi. Just tried the free cloudampz app for android, it lets you play flac uploaded to Box, works flawlessly so that's potentially another 50 GB of music I could be streaming to the Z... No more space constraints!

I wish Sony put more emphasis in Sound Quality in their smartphone division like they used to.  Walkman phones Sony.. I need a new Walkman phone..

Someone felt or noticed with New Version 2:03 FirmWare the battery seems to be lasting longer in MUSIC MP3 file at between 128 192 or 320kbps?
There have been changes in Layout? Visual Themes, Wallpaper's?

What version of Android does the Z1050 run on now, and can it output audio over USB yet ?

Also - is there a comparison around somewhere between the Sony NW Z10x0 series vs NWZ F805 ?

I recently picked up a NWZ-Z1050 and absolutely loving it, I understand they're few years old now but the price was too good to refuse. Let me say this is absolutely the best Walkman I have heard (I have not heard ZX1) the soundstage and bass depth is truly first-class. Pairing Z1050 up with some of my hybrids is giving them new life, especially one T-Peos Altone200 in particular. Owning a NWZ-F806 I had an idea of what to expect but Z1050 has taken that to a new level.  It's soundstage and micro detailing with ambient albums takes me away to another world.

Good work and only more tempted now by ZX1.
