I don't really like the sound of most full size headphones out of daps in general, there is not enough voltage swing available. When I use DT880, K712, HD650, even MA900, I use an external amp like ibasso p5 with 18v of voltage swing, your not going to get the most out of full size headphones with daps.

Hiby R8 has a turbo mode that folks seem to like for full sized headphones.

Which guide are you refering too?
also im glad to meet another person who made the choice im going to make.
I didnt mind at first the SR15, but then... sometimes it wont turn on, and i have to try multiple times for it to turn on.
pointy edges
micro-usb (terrble)
not enough power for normal headphones (Z7m2 or even B&O H6 gen 2)
bad button layout and configuration, and terrible UI.

I just bought and updated mine a couple days ago and mine doesn't say ultimate either so I'm confused as well.
it looks like dsee ultimate (fw 3.0) drains battery significantly faster than dsee hx (fw 2.0)
if on fw 2.0, I have almost never been bothered with dsee being on/off, now I consider battery saving a lot. for example not to use dsee when battery is below 50-60% and u dont what to recharge it on the go with powerbank. (however xiaomi 5v 2A 5000 mAh charges 50% in less than 1h.)

Re poor battery life - I did some more testing and can hardly hear the vinyl or DSEE, I can live without normalisation (and the process is generally frowned upon in the music recording world)
The amp / bass simulation - is very slight

So to save battery I now just use the equalizer...

Lol. It's a pity the music recording world doesn't frown upon heavy-handed dynamic range compression to make everything louder.

I always use volume normalization

Ah yes, well that is a huge issue, (which basically boils down to music artists and music labels all wanting their product to 'stand out' louder than other artists product)
A 'sonic greed' that disregards sonic quality.
