I've seen the a45 for 180 dollars before. I'm thinking it was B@H photo. But it's been a while now. But yes mostly they're expensive, not as overpriced as AK imo but hey at least they usually get the firmware right from the get go.

You are correct. A45 was on sale most everywhere on US sites (amazon, crutchfield, etc.) a couple of months ago for $179 USD. I bought two :)

You still using the klipsch? All you really need is a nice pair of chi fi with mmx or 2 pin cables- you can get some decent balanced cables reasonable. Also I think most of the fiio iems come with a balanced cable, and if it's 2.5 you can always use an adapter.

Yes I should be more frugal myself and show some restraint. But I always tell myself it's a better hobby than drugs:)

Glad to see you here.
Definitely better than drugs. Good job on overcoming that :)

Yes, the Klipsch still serve me well. I'd like something like the Beyerdynamic Xelento. But it just doesn't sound reasonable to me any longer to give that money for headphones:triportsad:

Thanks :) only took me 55 years to do it ha ha. Well you remember I have the akt8ieii and I've tried a crap load or iems and so far and none come close, the latest being the tin fi P1 planar. I think headphones/iems are the most important thing and the chain and I'm sure the Xelento (where do they get these names?) Is utterly amazing and I know they're light, wonderfully small and so comfy.

And Germans made them with their own hands! :L3000::beerchug:

Um ok, ya ZX500...

Hi guys, I’ve been reading through articles about ZX500 and found rather disappointing feature,
claiming that “new Android based Walkmans will down-convert music when playing on streaming services”.

The link to the interview (Japanese) is below:
https://www.phileweb.com/review/article/201909/06/3580_2.html

I’m also attaching a screenshot for those who can read Japanese.

I hope this isn’t official, but...

My disappointment with ZX500 began at the word 'Android' and deepened from there. .

Came to say this. I guess ZX300 will live on then as the mid-range/mid-price player with GREAT battery life and NO distractions -- I dont want to browse the web on tiny screen when listening to my music. I got a 15" macbook pro for that
