If google play is supported this could get interesting in the midrange dap support. Had thought about Hiby r5 but may wait for this.

Android or dual OS? Is it that good for pure sound quality or just good for streaming :anguished: app? Is it a flagship and more expensive than M5s? Intresting anyway!

At current build it's only Android, not dual OS.

@Shanling Really want to know how much this is going to cost, if it is more than 200 usd then I will probably buy the M0.

Definitely not under 200. And something completely way different than M0.

Let's see how it stacks up against the hiby R5 and the dx160 (snail SoC)

I don' t think so! From the specs octa core cpu bla bla bla ... I guest it would be somewhere "TOTL" or "flagship" Shanling DAP with "resonable price arround 600+ usd". Shanling needs some productlines that compete against Fiio M11 pro or Hiby R6, iBaso 200 ...

Hope its not AKM chip again...

What's wrong with AKM? The M5s sounds excellent. Lots of great things being said about the Cayin N6ii's A01 sound and the FiiO M11. Personally, I'm hoping whatever Shanling has planned here is based off of 4497. I don't need another DAP and yet I'm very curious about this announcement.

Its all a matter of taste. I didnt like the M5 and M11 at all. Coldish clinical (at the high end) to my ears....

Based on what I've heard, that "Velvet Sound" tech makes these AKM chips sound smoother than other delta-sigma DACs in its price range. But I tend to go for warmer, bassy headphones, so the treble is never aggressive to begin with, and bass response is almost always ample. That is the opposite of cold and clinical, (which, to put a finer point on it, can be a description of either the quality and/or quantity of the response imho). Others who have boosted treble response in their headphones might be a bit more conscious of what exactly constitutes the smoothest treble, so of course beauty is in the ear of the beholder. But I way prefer the R-2R DAC sound in general, so I also am not a fan of cold and clinical sounding DACs either. Based on my limited experience, the latest line of AKM chips are an improvement on the previous gen (4490).
