I would suggest changing the thread title to include "Momentum In-Ear." The current title won't receive much attention.

I'm actually surprised these are priced at $99 here in the US as the announce price in the UK was £90 (~$147).

I hope they sound closer to the original Momentum and less like the On-Ear.

Senn is using 18 Ohm drivers now instead of the 16 and 32. I do see the tips with the strip to hold the diaphragm guards in. So, we again have the diaphragm guards to play with. If they are too smooth up top or use guards a bit thicker/denser than preferred they can be switched out or trimmed.
 
Not sure where the CX 3.0 is. I saw an early review that wanted to crown the 3.0 the best $50 earphone. Not on site and the CX 2.0 is $55 so nice job there, doh. CX 3.0 isn't gonna be $50.
 
They could have included different guards for sound tuning. That would broaden the appeal. A non-i version would be nice but doubtful. The two variants are just Apple or Samsung.

The CX3.00 (and CX1.00) was briefly on the Sennheiser USA website earlier today but was taken down right when I was about to click the link.

I believe the CX3.00, CX5.00, and Momentum In-Ear all use an 18 ohm driver, while the CX1.00 and CX2.00 utilize a 28 ohm driver, so definitely new drivers all around. I'm also glad they went with the diaphragm guards.

As far as non-mic versions, I do think the CX1.00 is just a CX2.00 without the mic, but I'm curious as to a comparison between the CX3.00 and CX5.00 besides the mic and "2.00" difference.

EDIT 2: Looking at the link Rich provided (Thanks!), it appears that the housing of the Momentum In-Ear contains no plastic. Is that a first for a Sennheiser that isn't the IE800? Funny that a CNET review (which I will not link) said that the earphones were all plastic and that explains the low price. :rolleyes:

I am really interested in trying these out. I am relatively new to IEMs and right now stuck with the upgraded Apple ones, which aren't too bad for the moment. I need something light and low profile to go on hikes and walks, especially during winter (need to wear a hat to keep my lack of haired-skull from getting frostbitten) and even my V-Moda XSs get in the way. The problem I am having is that I get no bass extension with the apples. I am not a bass-head, but would like to get some extension in those lower ranges.
 
So...long-winded way to say that I think I am going to try these as I like the over ear version I have and see what comes of it...unless someone can think of something similar in the same price range and sound signature (which is only a guess right now). I am also considering the Xiaoami Piston 2 but not sure about that.

I look forward to hearing these as well esp. after the PCX 95. I've been hearing better tuning from the CX870 through the latest PCX 95 esp. regards the mid-range/vocals. The design is interesting, the tube angle, the all metal construction(even the CX985 was an ABS sound tube), the cable routing that should be good for over or straight down. They don't look too shabby either

The Piston 2 is, by far, the best audiophile-friendly sub $30 IEM.

They ensure the foam diaphragm guards won't come out cause they are not glued in or anything. You are free to replace them if they become clogged, trim extra sets to tune the sound if you choose. They don't seem to come out when using other tips, IME. Not that the MIE would be the same in that regard with it's construction. Maybe the guards will tend to want to come out of a metal tube? We'll see.
