A great musician plays selected music from one of the finest film composers ever. A wonderful cd, beautifully played and recorded.
Ennio Morricone is simply brilliant and clearly, Yo Yo Ma wanted to honor that brilliance with this performance.

Just listened to this one again tonight while two music involved friends were visiting. Both are going out to pick up this cd this week.
Give it a listen if you have even the slightest interest in great soundtracks........music composers, or world class musicianship.

I bought this CD very soon after it came out, and I was blown away. It is extremely beautiful music, with soaring melodies and wonderful color, and the playing by Yo Yo is, as usual, brilliant. I recognize a lot of the songs from their original sountracks, but they do not suffer at all for having been taken out of context and transcribed for the cello. I definitely recommend the album with no reservations, it's even worth full price.

Our local NPR classical station was playing this as I was driving home this afternoon. It was on when I got in the car, and I kept waiting for the third movement of whatever obscure cello concerto I assumed it to be.

It's a really pleasant recording, but I would never have guessed it was film music.

This is another CD [an ever increasing number in recent weeks...] that I bought due to recommendations at Head-Fi, Great disc...a change of pace for me. Great musicianship...I highly recommend it! "Appalachian Waltz" is another wonderful Yo-Yo Ma disc!

That is really a great CD. I gave this to my Mom for Christmas because she really loves cello and film music. In the end, however, I was still listening to it after my parents already went to bed on Christmas Eve.
The music is very emotional and not cheesy at all.

Thank you Nightfall for such a great recommendation. If you haven't checked out "Appalahian Waltz," [the song "Druid Fluid" is my favorite Yo-Yo Ma piece...] and/or "Silk Road Journeys" you really must. Thanks again for giving me the heads-up about the "Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone."

I looked everywhere today for this CD, but I could not find it!

I'm going to promptly order it off of Amazon, but until then, I have the Cinema Paradiso: OST to tide me over!

Ennio Morricone is easily my favourite composer, period.

Yo-Yo Ma is the top name in cello.

How could I go wrong?

I got mine at my local Borders, sorry it was difficult for you to find. But its worth the effort, and more.
