There's a new Plenue called the D3 on the Korean Cowon site, from the software translated blurb :

"The biggest difference from the existing PLENUE series is Bluetooth support."

Ah snap, just saw this myself. Looks almost identical to D2.

The specs they give that are the same as D2 are:
  • Dimensions
  • 64 GB RAM + microSD card slot (128 GB max)
  • Output impedance
  • 2 x CS43131 DAC/amp chips
  • 2 Vrms single-ended/4 Vrms 2.5mm balanced
  • Battery life
  • JetEffect etc.
  • Same gold or silver color schemes
There are some slight differences in the given audio performance specs:
D2D3:
  • 125 / 130 SNR (single/balanced)
  • -120 / -143 cross-talk
  • 0.0004% / 0.0005% THD+N
  • 126 / 131 SNR
  • -130 / -147 cross-talk
  • 0.0004% / 0.0006% THD+N

Added features or differences from D2 are:
  • Bluetooth - looks to be exactly the same as on the R/R2: version 3.0 only (A2DP, AVRCP profiles) and aptX, SBC codecs
  • Volume wheel on top right instead of power button. Power is now on the right hand side along with three separate play/pause, ff/skip ahead and rewind/skip back buttons, so volume rocker on side is gone.
  • USB-C instead of microUSB connection
Listed price on the Korean Cowon website is 399,000 KRW, which works out to about 340-350 USD.

Still the same low quality display, as in D1 and D2 models?
Yeah still stated as 240 x 320 LCD screen, 2.8 inch. The bigger Plenues have better screens, but I was never bothered too much by the smaller ones - at least the lower res screen helps the battery life.

Cowon D2 was my first mp3-player of some quality. It was great. Even with the old d2, every (bad-recorded) song could be tweaked to sound awesome. I do miss that with my dx80.
Too bad the only change between d2 -> d3 seems to be bluetooth.
I would buy the D2+ or D3 right away, if only it supported more then 128Gb (!!!) and had a dedicated line-out.

Btw: Is there a lot of difference between JetEffect5 (5-band EQ) and JetEffect7 (10-band EQ)?
