Hey I just found this forum and love headphones so figured it'd be a good match. I'm trying to ditch gaming headsets. I play on PS4 and I have a vmoda boom pro mic on the way. I ordered a set of philips sph9500, to put with it. Well the mic is taking forever to get here and I was reading about the monoprice 8323 and snagged them as well and I ordered some replacement cups, so they will help with the bad cup issue I've been reading about.
I tried using the sph9500 with the cheap mic I have now but my friends say they can hear themselves (I think it's picking up the sound leakage) will the vmoda fair better? Or will I be better off using the monoproce since they're a closed back? Also could you suggest more closed back options? (No more then 150) would prefer a detachable cable as I'm using them eventually with the vmoda mic.

Thanks!

There are not a ton of good closed options in this price range, unfortunately. A few that come to mind are the AKG K553 Pro and the SoundMAGIC HP150. Two more that could work are the ATH-M40X and the HD598CS. Lastly, if you can up your budget a bit, you might look at an NAD HP50--it is really terrific. A bit over budget. You might read about these and see what you think.

Thanks for the response. The reason I want closed is where I play I have other people in the room and I don't want sound leaking out to them. Just because I want immersed into whatever I am playing doesn't mean they do. I originally got the SPH9500 and when I heard how much sound was coming out of them I knew I would want closed. So I returned them and now am looking for a closed pair. Are there any in the under 100$ range worth looking into? On reviews at amazon I went with the monoprice 8323 and ordered some replacement earcups --kinda bad that the cups cost as much as the headphones but from what people are saying I will need them.

Has anyone had these and are they decent? How hard is it replace the cups? I should've mentioned I am not audiophile as all I have known to this point are gaming headsets. The best ones I had were the hyper x stingers (50$)great sound and a great mic but I want something I can hear people coing in all directions.
