Nice stuff already but there's always room for upgrades. Welcome aboard the train known as wallet hell.

I have had the 555's for about a year. I really enjoy them.

Keep in mind these are an "open" design, which means other people around you will hear your music. I use them in the evening when the Mrs. is down the hall in the bedroom. These phones are very comfortable and detailed.

The Senn HD280 is another good choice in the <100 range, which are a closed design (others around you will hear much less, and very flat. They do not add or subtract much from the music. They do rock.

Both of these can be used without an amp. They do shine with an amp.

Happy listening and good luck with your search.

Hi and welcome!

Let me see...trance (all kinds off), electronic, nu and heavy metal, rock, smooth jazz, classical, new age, instrumental, reggae occasionally, some pop and old rap. Probably missed one or two, there's too many

EDIT: as a recommendation, you could try Denon D1001. Nice closed headphone for the money.

X2 on the denon D1001
