Hi Everyone,
Just an introduction thread from a new(b) guy.
My name is Roy, in my early 40's, out of Los Angeles area. I typically listen to MP3's (160 Kbps) and Podcasts on my Android phone at work. Although I know that the quality/bitrate of these formats are not the best, I still want to hear the best sound possible - and being in my 40's, I know that I'm losing some sensitivity to high/low frequencies lol. I've typically used the crappy earbuds provided with the phone or purchased online. Last year I got a pair of Nocs NS200s for Android - one of the very few 3 button earphones that work with Android (Even the Klipsh Android specific earphones are only 1 button). I also have a pair of off the shelf Shure earphones that I got years ago (6/7 years?) from Best Buy for around $100 at the time. I continued to use these up to my first purchase of high quality IEMs a few weeks ago. The Shures were especially good on airplanes because of their sound isolating properties. For working out, I have a pair of JayBird Freedom sweatproof Bluetooth earphones - not the most comfortable pair of earphones either lol
I was introduced to this site while Googling for recommendations on the best pair of earphones. I ended up spending a lot of time reading about the Shure SE530/535 Ltd Edn, UE 900s, Westone W40s and the Westone 4Rs. As you may have noticed from my avatar, I ended up purchasing the W4Rs from earphonesolutions.com, partly because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews here on head-fi and also because of the 2 prong connection.
Now, if I could only find the Westone Epic MICS cable for the W4R... Although I did post in this thread for more info: http://www.head-fi.org/t/696418/a-lear-custom-made-cable-which-work-with-dj
