Hi there. I just joined the other day. Yesterday I picked up a pair of the Ety ER-4P at Scientific Plastics in NYC for use mostly with my iPod. Real nice guys and I can get custom ear molds for the 4Ps later on if I want for $30. I just started playing with these today and already I think they are fantastic. Not thinking I had a good enough ear to appreciate them, I got those Sony EX70SLs due to the raving reviews I have read. I got them last week and have no clue what these people are hearing, but I think they are terrible. Lots of bass and no mid at all. Where are the vocals and crisp drums?!? So anyway, convinced myself that I wouldn't get everything I need unless I had the Etys. Boy was I right. At first I found something was missing, so I pulled them out and moistened the tip and reinserted. WOW! Defintely tight bass, really crisp drums, great vocals. The music just fills my entire head and I feel like I can hear every little thing existing in it. So I guess I do have a better ear than I thought. I am totally looking forward to hearing more of my music, and how they are after burning in some.

Welcome to Head-Fi, Ken. I'm glad you're enjoying your Ety 4Ps...........the problem with them is that they spoil you for just about anything else. The only upgrade from there is the Ety 4p to 4s cable.......and then an amp......and then a better source......and then some better cables........and then.....

Just do yourself a favor and leave this site now while your wallet still has something of value in it.

Ack! Leave me alone!

Nah, for portability, I think that my setup is great. I just wish the Etys had a shorter cord because of the wired remote. That's the only think I liked about the Sonys. .4 meter cord with 1 meter extention. Perfect. Plus, the iPod apparently puts out quite a bit of power for a portable.

So what exactly would I need the 4S converter for? The only other thing I can see myself using these for is plugging into my computer.

You think you can get away that easily? Sorry man, but once you've taken a bite of the apple, natural human curiosity and the quest for better sound will grab hold of you like some unrelenting vixen. How many of us heard our first pair of quality phones and thought, "This is it! I've found perfect sound!" Alas, months later and our wallets flapping empty in the wind, we're still coming back and listening and buying new stuff.

And as we all say at Head-Fi, sorry about your wallet.
