Hi all,
This is Tension250, a new member from Netherlands. I have been looking for some serious amp to drive my hd800. I am upgrading from a violectric v281 and a Gustard h20 plus T+A dac8 dsd setup. Planning to order wooaudio wa5 le. However the tax might kill this idea. Does anyone know something good & available in Europe? Is there anyone trying to sell wa5 gears in EU or NL?
Thanks all!
Best
T.

V282? I have no idea what that is. But a V280 works great balanced with the 800s.

If you have four thousand euros to spend on an amp then I think you have a lot of choices

Violectric 281 I meant. Any suggestions on the Amp besides wa5 ?

Personally I was ready to buy a WA2 but I got about two weeks of solid bad news in a row so I can't do it yet. And now they're out of stock until April. I'm in the same situation as you regarding taxes and customs but I was going to take a chance because of their free shipping.

Are you really not happy with the V281? What don't you like about it?

Cool man! Good question. Unfortunately, I do not like my V281. I think H20 is better than V281 (this is really really my personal feeling). I hear more details (those details at low volume) with H20 and can feel the "breath" of the singer better than V281. Depth, image, are definately better with H20. However, V281 offers better quality of music (especially drums) and a larger field. If I have to keep only one Amp, I would choose H20. At this moment, I am trying to "save" my V281 by connecting it to a pre-amplifier, which might improve the depth and image. Well I will know after receiving the pre-amp on Thursday.
I just started my rolling with Hifi a few months ago, please forgive my unprofessional description.

All in all, I'm looking for something that can WOW me at the moment......

Are you running your Sennheisers balanced or unbalanced out of the V281? And what source(s) is connected to your V281 and is it balanced or unbalanced?

Also what kind of music are you listening to mostly? The 800 is not really the best choice for all kinds of music. Anything besides jazz or classical is probably not going to be very satisfying although a good tube amp could help somewhat.

My setup for the V280 is Mytek Brooklyn DAC+ balanced into the V280 and balanced out for my Sennheiser 600s and 800s. I'm pretty happy with it but I don't have another high end amp to compare it to.

There is a subforum for amps and tons of threads including "which amp for the Sennheiser 800" or something like that in the full sized headphones thread.

Feliks in Poland that @ProtegeManiac suggested has a lot of fans and a few different amps. I have never heard one.

I don't have much experience with high-end amps but there is a subforum for that and tons of threads including "which amp for the Sennheiser 800" or something like that.
I am connecting it via balance port.

T+A DAC8 DSD ---> V281 listening to almost everything
T+A DAC8 DSD ---> H20 ---> V281 feels better, but with high pitched sound ....
Going to try some good pre-amplifier with V281........
