Hi everyone! I'm a long time lurker here and finally made my account today. I'm building my first nice headphone setup and have a quick question for all you knowledgeable members. I already bought an Oppo HA-2 amp/dad to use with my iphone 7 as a source, Im planning on ripping CD's into FLAC and using the Onkyo HF app for playback. My question is for headphones im deciding between the Oppo PM-2 and PM-3's. I have had a chance to use the PM-3's and think they are great, but im willing to pay more for the PM-2's for the better soundstage. Im wondering if the PM-2 will require too much power to be driven by the HA-2. If the PM-2's wont be loud enough with my amp i have no problem going with the PM-3's for now. Let me know if any of you have any experience with this. Thanks!
Justin

According to the measurements on Innerfidelity, the Oppo PM-3 requires 0.037 Vrms to reach 90 db, while the PM-2 requires a little more, 0.058 Vrms, to reach the same level. That amount of voltage could be supplied easily by a smartphone with a capable integrated amp, so the Oppo HA-2 should have more than enough power to drive the PM-2 to eardrum-rupturing levels. Keep in mind that the PM-3 is closed-back and meant to be for on-the-go listening, while the PM-2 is open back and intended for home listening.
