New Head-Fier
Hey guys, finally decided to join the forums after a few months of lurking. I recently picked up a massdrop x hifiman HE4xx headphones and it sparked my interests back into headphone audio gear. Sorry if this may have been answered many times but there is just soo much info on this forum. My current setup is a Schiit stack consisting of a Magni 2 Uber, Modi 2 Uber DAC, and a Little Dot MKII that powers my Hifiman HE4xx, Sennheiser HD650, and my pair of AKG K7xx. So the question I have is that I've been wanting to dip my toes into a balanced headphone amp setup, been looking into the massdrop THX 789 (whenever/if this ever becomes available again), Monoprice THX 788, Schiit Jotunheim amp and possibly the massdrop liquid carbon amp without dac. I do know that only my hd650 and he4xx will be the only ones that i will be able to get balanced cables for so if I go with a balanced amp will there be an audible difference that is worth the $400-600 headphone amp upgrade? Or is it better to keep my current amp setup and invest in different headphones? I also read that having more available power doesn't mean it will sound better as well. There is just soo much info to take in so I'm pretty much all over the place trying to decide that to do. Help suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
