Getting my hands on the Rock and Groove, let you guys know how these sound. If the product consistency is similar throughout, then these should be amazing performers since the M2, M6, and M9 are more than amazing for their price.

Yes my apologies, it's what happens when you linger in this category for too long. It turns into "headfi" rather than a part of HEadfi.

Not sure if they have released any players before, because if they did i have NO clue they existed...i'll get on to that on Monday

The Clip+ is taller by .5 of an inch, and also thicker. That is enough room to make it expandable, but yes i understand where you are coming from. Hmm can't wait to tell you guys how the Groove and Rock sound. Just gave a listen to the X1060 from Sony today.

My Groove and Rock has arrived, i can tell you all right now that the Sound Quality is worth the money you pay for the player. Pictures soon to come, rather busy at the moment.

But, would the difference be amped or unamped?

I have only ever used ipods, and i have owned/used most of the makes. only time i enjoyed the music quality out of one over another was with the 3rd generation nano vs most others.

but since i got into head-fi and high-end audio, i've only ever used my ipod touch (now a 2nd gen 32gb).

so do these have better sound quality? or are they alternatives... i haven't yet delved into the world of hi-fi sources, having so many ipods.

I myself find overall, the Groove is superior to the Fuze/Clip in terms of audio. Clarity, Detail, and soundstage is relatively better than the Fuze/Clip. On the box it says it supports MP3, WMA, FLAC, WAV, and OGG. So basically...the majority of the community.
