Here is my setup, I am currently running from laptop to SP2000 then TOSLINK

optical out to Hugo M-Scaler / Hugo TT2. XLR balanced to MHA200.

No RFI noise. Sounds tremendous 😊. Looks crazy, but the SP2000 is not converting to analog in this arrangement. It is only converting USB data to Optical output to the Hugo M-Scaler. This is reducing or eliminating jitter. The laptop is normally on my desk a few feet away. Why bother with the SP2000? I can now play anything from Foobar2000 or any source from the laptop and the SP2000 will convert the digital audio into optical output.
Check out what happens when you use your ARC preamp as the pre using the MHA200 as an amp in unity. You’ll find it damn impressive

Yes you are right. But I already own the SP2000. If I knew beforehand that I would like this sound better and I didn't have a DAP, I would look for something on Amazon.

Maybe you can try with your SP2K and Dave for the fun of experimenting?
I did and that's how I am using it too LOL

A little disappointed that not a month into enjoying this amp that 1 of the 12BH7 power tubes has started putting scratching/crackling noises in my ear. Confirmed by switching the tubes and having it move to the other ear. It's most dominant when the tubes are cold, luckily it's less frequent and less loud when they are hot, so it has not entirely diminished the enjoyment.

Luckily 12BH7 tubes are not expensive so I ordered some JJ and Electro Harmonix replacements to see if that will have an effect, I don't know where McIntosh sources their tubes, so might have to chat with the store I purchased the amp from potentially if the aforementioned tubes won't fix it.

your factory tubes are warranted for 90 days from date of purchase. Your factory tubes are McIntosh labeled JJ tubes

It was nice to virtually meet you! Cute dog. I had video off and was muted because we've been having severe thunderstorms and flash floods all day and my dogs are upset.

Thanks @TSAVJason for putting together the Zoom meeting! Perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon.
