New Marantz PM7200 integrated (Class A)

I have the older PM7000 integrated amp. It has a decent headphone jack, but its not up to the level of the 70's marantz receivers. If I get some time I'll do some listening later and report back.

It's a nice integrated amp - basically the cheaper successor of the PM8000, but actually it seems to be the same thing. Haven't had a chance to compare the innards directly, though - so there might be some minor change in components...

Hmm, it has clearly better specs that my Marantz SR-4000 receiver, which has a sound I've enjoyed A LOT for the last 3 years:

0.03%THD at 1kHz 1W, vs 0.05% in the SR4K
S/N 88dB; vs >82dB
Freq. Resp. 10-50000Hz (+0, -1dB), vs. 20-30000Hz (+/-1dB)
95W into 8 ohms, vs 80W
And has class A mode...

This is a little attractive integrated. I might succumb to temptation and give it a try.

Well, to my ears it (= the PM8000 in my case - but, as already hinted above, according to the Marantz guys over here the PM7200 shouldn't differ) sounds quite nice - especially in class A mode, which sounds fairly smooth and liquid to me...

P.S.: I wouldn't say it's on level with the Corda HA-1MkII, though...

P.P.S.: I almost forgot - hint: You can improve and tweak the sound quite a bit by replacing the stock processor in/out bridges with some nice short interconnects!
