Nice but I think I prefer the wood base of the Praetor.

Nice but I think I prefer the wood base of the Praetor.

Both Stand are pretty; the aesthetics are different; more classic and vintage for the Praetor Stand (for the Vali and the Odin mk1?) and more modern or "neoclassical" (and apparently more stable, because with it wider base) for the new Kennerton Stand "Huginn" seen on the previous page (for the new Odin mk3 and the Thror ?).

A question of taste: I could live happily with both. :)

Odin mk1 vs Odin mk3 Vs Thror FR (300 Hz adjustment)
(Nb: alignment of the curves at the frequency 300 Hz) (Nb bis: the vertical scale of the dB is enlarged to better differentiate the curves: each graduation represents 6 dB)

Otherwise, seen on another Russian forum.

Thror or Abyss, what is the best technically?
Probably the Abyss. :)
Which one should I choose?
Probably the Thror.

(Nb tierce: Source of these relative measures of FR: http://reference-audio-analyzer.pro/en/)

Comments: the 2 Khz dip is less pronounced (3 dB less) with both the new Odin mk3 and the Thror (sharing the same new high-tech honeycomb membrane) compared to the Odin mk1.
The extension in the sub-bass (under 40 Hz) is much better with the new Odin mk3 and even more with the Thror, but it is necessary to take into account the difference of pads used between the Odin mk1 (old V1 pads with more perforation holes) compared to the new headphones Odin (and probably also the Thror) using the new V2 pads, with fewer perforation holes (better sealing likely).
Otherwise, after discussing this with other members of the French forum (*), the frequency peak found at 5.5 Khz on all RAA measurements is probably overstated; it is probably a measuring artifact, just like the 9 Khz dip; to take with a pinch of salt.

Hi all.

"Delta QSD / Delta Waterfall" graph comparison regarding the following headphones:

Sennheiser HD-800
Sennheiser HD-600
Kennerton Vali
Audeze LCD2F
JPS Abyss
Kennerton Odin (mk1)
Kennerton Odin mk3 (Thridi)
Kennerton Thror

Current discussion of the meaning / interpretation of these graphs on the french forum (note: you can use google translate)

My interpretation:

1) wow, their coupler has serious resonance issues.
2) wow, the way they display CSDs makes them utterly impenetrable. Have they never heard of perspective?

Thank you for your comment.

OK with you for the resonance problem at 9-10 KHz , most likely a measurement artifact related to a parasitic resonance of the platform coupler at this frequency (with resulting in a systematic dip (hollow) at 9-10 KHz on the FR of the headphones as indicated on my previous posts).

That said, while recognizing that I do not understand much about the interpretation of these graphs: it seems to me that the graphic representation of this "thing" is cleaner with the Thror than with the Odin, if we ignore the peak of resonance at 9-10 Khz which is probably a measuring artifact (resonance of the coupler).
For comparison I also added the graph of the Abyss and the HD-800.

Sure, but compare it to a CSD laid out sensibly:

That is Solderdude's HD800 measurement from diyaudioheaven.

Thanks.

Otherwise, In few days the first Thror in series and the first Odin mk3 "Thridi" will arrive in France. :)

Next Saturday, in Nîmes (France), on the anniversary of Pierre Paya's Showroom, I'll be there to listen to them! (in comparison with some other interesting headphones: the Susvara, the Abyss Diana, the HE-1000 V2, the LCD4, the LCD MX4 and also the Sennheiser HE1 and the Shangri-La ...)

That's to much !

This coming April 28? Looking forward to hearing what you think about the Thror vs the cans you mentioned... interested to know though, how do you think they would compare against the Utopia in resolution, stage and mids/vocals? :) Cheers.

The Thror and the new Odin mk3 arrived in France today (according to an e-mail from Pierre); yes I will keep you informed of this meeting (planned saturday 28 and sunday 29 April) which promises to be memorable ! :)
With the Odin mk "0" (precursor of the Odin mk1) ; Odin mk2 ; new Odin mk3 ; Thror ; LCD4; Susvara ; Abyss ; Utopia ; Clear ; Stax SR-007 mk2 and 009 (not S !) ; Shangri-La ; HE-1 !
And I only have two ears !

I will also give you links to other comments on the French forums of people who will, like me, attended this meeting; probably to follow on the following topic of the French forum HCFR (to follow)

Hi all

The first feedbacks arrive.

Sorry for the moment to show you only the links to the french forum about this meeting.
It was an international meeting; know that a person from Tel Aviv (Israel) made a special travel to France (by plane, Nîmes via Marseille) to attend the event.

I hope that the comments on the French forum will multiply.
The first link (below) gives you the forum page where we begin to talk about the event; the second link refers to my photographs (in spoiler: 71 photos) and some (long) comments of my part.

Also know that officially I am the owner of the 1st Kennerton serial Thror , engraved S / N THR 001; this headphone which you will see the unboxing in photos was delivered with the cable Kenneron Custom in its "luxury" version with the beautiful Furutech headphone jack.
I thank Kennerton very much for that kind regard.

However, I left my Thror headphone to Pierre, the organizer of this meeting, so that the other guests can listen to it sunday and compare it to the best headphones in the world (*) ; and they are a few to have this pretension.
I will recover the Thror in 1 week then I could then listen to it with my lovely Odin mk2.

(*) the best headphone in the world, to my ear and my taste, considering the respect of the timbres and the tone of the acoustic instruments, being the Sennheiser HE-1, at least to listen to classical music; The other systems were not demerited.

Happy reading (via google translate)

Enjoy! :)

Hi all,

Within a week (approximately) I get my Thror (the first Kennerton Thror in series in Western Europe), entrusted for the moment to Pierre this week, with the new Odin Thridi "mk3" (also the first in Western Europe) that Pierre Paya leaves to me, on loan, at my home, for a few days, for a more in-depth comparison of this new Kennerton Odin "mk3" with the Thror and, of course, my beloved Odin mk2.

http://www.homecinema-fr.com/forum/post179543101.html#p179543101

Thanks to this loan, I will be able to compare for a few days, at my home, these 3 Kennerton planar headphones (Thror, Odin Thridi "mk3" which will replace the Odin mk2 a priori for a price very close, see the same than the current Odin mk2) and my Odin mk2 wooden in Karelian birch.
Super happy!

Of course, I will keep you informed of this comparison between these 3 headphones ! :)
