will it work with a wall-wart, though?

I think that would defeat the purpose. Battery power = cleaner power, AC>DC = noisy...

i wonder how long the batteries last.

From the ad copy:

"The shield or outer spiral of conductors is used as the DBS cathode by connecting it to the negative terminal of the battery pack. Again, there is no interaction with signal flow and no extra connections are introduced into the signal path. The batteries are doing no work. They will last as long as the batteries sitting on your storage shelf, so you will very seldom need to change batteries. To check battery status, the DBS pack includes a button and LED."

there has been an ad for these in stereophile for the past two months. i actually have been sort of interested in them, despite the fact that i've never really liked the audioquest interconnects that i've heard.

My friend, who happens to be an audioquest dealer, says that these are the real deal and not a gimmic... He's been urging me to stop by to borrow a pair, but I haven't had the time lately. I'll have to swing by one of these days so I can hear for myself!

You have got to review these... Very interesting indeed. I don't know if I actually grasp this, but for lack of a better term, is this "active shielding" ?

I have no clue! Hopefully someone who knows what the hell die-electric means can help us out here- in layman's terms! I just think that there's truth in advertising and know that audio companies would never sell us anything that didn't actually work

Now where are my brilliant pebbles and $90 o-rings?

Alkalines have the longest shelf life right? I havn't bought those in a while. NiMH discharge in like 6 months or something.
