I've just got my AK70 and have been having trouble to transfer files from my ipod classic to it. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could give me some advise:

    1) The microSD should be formatted to exFAT format, right?
    2) Could AK70 reads microSD formatted in NTFS?
    3) On my hard disk for itune files storage, could I just copy the folders to the microSD card?

    Cheers
    KW.

    @okw3188

    1. Astell&Kern recommends all microSD cards to be formatted as FAT32
    2. It should read a NTFS card formatted without issue, but again we recommend FAT32 for best results
    3. Are you using a Mac or PC? For a PC, once you connect to your computer, you will see the AK70 as a removable drive. You can copy your music from the folder that the audio files are stored in to the AK70. On a Mac, you must first download Android File Transfer or use another program such as Commander One since Mac OS does not include support for Android-based devices.

    Hi Jason,

I have just tried the various format on a 128Gb microSD card and it seems like FAT32 is the only one having error free. But it means that the file size is limited to 4Gb and I have 120Gb to transfer to the player. Any alternative for the transfer?

Just noticed Jason from Astell & Kern seems active on these forums, really neat! I asked this in the AK 70 mk2 thread, but here´s the same thing again: can you comment on A&K players policy on the EU volume limit? Is there a volume cap in the EU models sold through Amazon.de for example? If there is, is it possible to remove this limit through settings? Just asking as I´d be interested in potentially running some full size headphones that would benefit from the increased power. I´ve tried to Google this, but can´t find anything. On Sony players the volume cap is unfortunately on all players sold here, but it can be removed with an unofficial Rockbox tool.

Hi. With a 128gb card, you should get about 119gb of usable space once formatted.

The 4gb limit is per file. Most single tracks are way below 4gb each, so you should not have any issues unless you have live recording that are single files and hours long, you should have no issue.

@vrln just responded to you on the other thread. I didn't think AK players have a volume limiter on players sold in the EU, but waiting for confirmation from our EU team. Will let you know once I confirm.

    Hi Jason,

    Thanks again for the clarification!

@vrln Confirmed with our EU team that none of the Astell&Kern players feature a volume limiter, including those sold in the EU.

I used AK70 with Schiit Modi Multibit and it works perfectly except... it absolute drains the battery on the AK70. I can only get about 4 hours out of the AK70.

Holy moly, what IEMS have 123dB/mW?

You could invest a little money in an iFi Earbuddy or IEMatch. Drop the overall system sensitivity down 16dB or 12/24dB respectively.

They were Cosmic Ears CE6P universal demo units. But I didn't like them too much. However, I do like my current demo IEM's, which are Custom Art Harmony 8.2's.

Only I broke my AK70:frowning2: so I can't test them with the AK, but I believe these are also pretty sensitive..

Hey there Jason. I am new to the AK70 forum and was considering picking up one of these players but I had a question for you. I have a large music library (20,000 or so files). is there a playlist file limitation on this player or would i be able to shuffle and play all 20,000 of my files at once, which is how i generally use my players. I know all files should be recognized in folder or search mode but just wondering if i can shuffle all of my files at once?

Brian, for me limit is around 1.000 music files per playlist. Any kind of music files (located in every directories) but just 1.000. If I remember correctly, it is the reader himself who shows a message if this limit is exceeded.
If you list your files by songs, of course you can play all them in shuffle mode or anyway, I have not noticed any limitations in this sense (also because I believe it is impossible to notice it in more than a thousand tracks).

Thanks for the feedback. i am not speaking of creating a playlist per se. My desire is to set the player to shuffle, go to the "songs" category, pick a song and press play. I would then sit back and listen to my 20,000 song library shuffle in random order. Would this be possible?
