mmm.....thanks! I'm going to my dealer here with my amps (wa8, cdm, aurender flow) to test compatibility with the Onkyo DPX1's OTG USB Digital Out. Price between the 2 is a 200 usd difference.

Here are some post you might like to look at

Part of me wants to buy the CDM but than I heard the WA8 and it is far better. But than again I know about a release of a future amp that is aimed to fit the profile of HUGO so hence I will wait.

Looking at CDM and dp-x1 picture it is truly a pretty setup.

So, what amp did they test with the AK 70's USB out before manufacture?? l mean, there aren't a lot of amp or amp/Dacs that accepts USB Audio.

I'm sure we can both think of one DAC-Amp, in particular, that they would've definitely tested with the AK70's USB-out

Mmmm.great news! Mucho gracias. What about CDM with AK 70? Good-to-go??? Can you post picture? So, is it plug-n-play? What usb cable did you use? Details please. TIA.

CDM is using Wolfson dac, not competitive when compare to newer saber /AKM dac. So line out to CDM is preferred.

But the AK70 is a Cirrus Logic CS4398?

But actually DACs aside it's really more its implementation rather than the DAC chip choice itself.

Why I am really interested in AK70 is the size. Lately I notice the daps I take out the most are not my calyx M, dpx1, c4, hm901 or the other half a dozen I own. The one i take the most outside is my AK120, hisound S6 and alien dap. These are the DAPS that i can take without needing a bag to carry. They fit in pockets rather easily. I think of USB out as bonus as no matter how good a USB out of a device is it can never be 'good enough' for most of us at home.

I personally feel AK70 has taken a step in the right direction when it comes to portability. Lets be honest what excited most of us when the AK1xx first came out is not all its other features(dual SD, optical out) but its size and form factor and what it is capable of delivering in that size.

I agree.
I'm interested in AK120 for the same reason. Its recent price drop ($549) makes it reasonable than their more expensive models.
How does AK120 sound compared to Calyx M. DP-X1? Does it even come close?

Anyway one a best for value DAP out of iRiver and non android platform was good to me.
Also the USB out was great to be permanent used with Mojo as well.

Are you sure it is a non-Android or just a locked down Android?
