Hey guys!

It's been a while since I was last on the forums and need some help replacing my Klipsch X10. I've had them for the past 3-4 years and they've performed really well for me. I like how they were very comfortable and had good punchy bass. Ideally i would like to find something that is also comfortable with a warm signature, bass is a must and preferably worn down as I take them on and off quite often. Price range is anywhere between $200 - $500. Not sure if I want to go to the CIEM route yet so that might be out of the question. I've previously had UE TF10, Monster Miles Davis, JVC FXZ200, and my full sized headphones are Denon D5000. Any recommendations would definitely be appreciated. Thanks!

BUMP!

I also realize I'm not going to find an IEM that has both the same isolation and comfort as the X10 but if an IEM had the signature I am looking for, I am open to that as well.

The Audio Technica ATH-IM04 sounds like just the thing for you. Plenty of bass, quite warm, gloriously smooth and refined.

For me, it was just a bit too warm, and I went back to the IM03, which is neutral-warm, while also more airy and open. Yet still more than enough bass. Nonetheless, I loved my time with the 04.

Also, with a cable that wraps over the ear, the microphonics are reduced by a tremendous level. That's the biggest flaw with my Klipsch X7i. The cable makes so much bloody noise.

I concur on the SM64. Though I have yet to hear it myself, from all the impressions I've read, it's quite a lush phone.

Thanks for the recommendation! I've read up on the ATH-IM04 and I'm not sure if they have enough bass for me. I am somewhat of a basshead but I definitely do no like the bass to overly overpower the mids and highs. The ATH - IM50 looks interesting, have you had any experience with them?

I think the Fidue A73 and Earsonics SM64 should be on your shortlist as well.

Thanks for the recommendation. Is there a big difference between the Fidue A73 and A83? And if you know could you elaborate? The SM64 have always been on my list of IEMs to try, I am just unsure about the fit as my ears are small and awkward? I've tried Shures and Westones and their bodies seem to be a bit too big for my years, do you know if the SM64 have smaller bodies than them? Also I've read alot about the Earsonics Velvet, have you any experience with them?

Are there any other IEMs that come to mind, or you have experience with, that have a powerful thumpy bass but not recessed mids (trying to avoid the V-Shaped signature if possible)

  RE-600

Thanks for the recommendation! I believe the RE-600 is more of a neutral/analytical sound signature so not sure if it would have the warmth and bass I am looking for. I definitely like the fact that they can be worn down, but if there are any other IEMs that have a good bassy signature that doesn't kill the mids and highs that would be greatly appreciated!

You should look at the 04 again. It has a LOT of bass. Two BA drivers dedicated just to the sub freq. Then one for the mids, one for the treble. I kid you not, it's good. It almost certainly should sound closer to the X10 than the IM50.

The A73 is meant to be a lot warmer and bassier, and the A83 is reported as being a treble-head phone. Very bright and overly detailed. Awesome for some, but not for me, and probably not for you.

I've had the 83, but not the 73. I recommended it however, because it seems to be a little warmer in sound than it's older brother. Plus, ergonomically, the 73 ought to fit small ears better. The 83 has a pretty large, oddly-shaped housing.

I have smallish ear canals and the 64s have never ever been a problem. I've also owned Westone and Shures however, and they didn't present a problem for me either.

Sorry, no experience with the Velvet.

When you mean by ALOT of bass, is it significantly more than what the X10 produces? I am pretty much looking for a souped-up version of the X10.

I will definitely look into the A73 as it sounds more of my liking.

In terms of quality/quantity of bass, do the SM64s have more than the 73 and which would would you prefer for hip hop/rock/electronic music

I have not heard the X10 myself. From what I've read, it is well-balanced, with very powerful bass that does not over power the other frequencies. If that's accurate, then my recommendation stands.

By suped up, do you mean MORE bass than the X10? If you're looking for lows that dominate the music, I can't help you. I have no interest in phones like that.

Now, if you're looking for just an all-around upgrade, then we're back in business.

PS. The Velvets have gotten AMAZING reviews. I'd love a pair, myself. If it's in your price-range, this could be your best bet. Unfortunately, I have not had the pleasure of auditioning them. :(

i tihkn you may be thinking of the RE-0 or maybe the 400.  the 600 is rich, warm and quite bassy.
