considering the look, im tempted to think of it as a cheaper consumer-friendly westone 3. of course it has one driver versus the w3's 3, but the package looks a lot like that of the W3.

very nice of Westone to continue to hit this price range.

MSRP is 199, so what exactly would that mean? Order from Westone 199, but order from something like Amazon etc... 139?

I really like the isolation and fit of my old Shure's, so really looking forward to these being out...

i think only a small handful of people know if they are better or not. the sound tube has been lengthened since the w3 - that is good news.

as to shure, they are constantly releasing revised versions of their stable line. of course they will eventually kick out a major new product, but Shure have turned their line much much more than Westone have in the last 3 years and before. I think it rather that Westone are catching up.

I'm interested to see what driver these are using. Possibly a CI22955? hmmm who knows. But it looks like the shell has been shrunk a bit from the W3 as the domes part is now slightly flat. But cool product, Like the price difference of the W3 and the UM3X )399 vs 379) the W1 vs the UM1 is 139 to 119. Interesting.

want...

I wonder if anyone has listened to a demo or anything?

From the descriptions, it looks like the W1's are for personal listening and the UM1 for musicians etc... also fitting in with the W3 to UM3x descriptions...

UM = musicians, monitoring etc...
W= Personal listening...

Right?

Follows the trend that you get a LOAD more of accessories with the W's and like two tips for the UM...

Yes, that's true. I wonder why that is. One can say that the UM- series are targeted for professional use but why does the box of the UM3X have the following text:"also perfect for personal audio and video devices..." It doesn't make much sense to me TBH.
