Hey, everyone. I've been doing some research about getting some new headphones, but I'm not really all that tech savvy, especially when it comes to headphones. I kept getting directed here by my Google searches, and it seemed like the website was composed of quite a lot of helpful and knowledgeable people. So, I figured that I might as well make an account and post.
For the past bunch of months, nearly a year actually, I've been using Bob Marley Revolutions. They're a cool set of on-ear headphones with an interesting design and, at least as far as I could tell, pretty good sound quality. The problem was that they kept breaking. On multiple occasions one of the ear pieces would stop functioning, or the mic and volume controls would cease working, and one time they actually snapped in half! Also, quite a lot of the time (especially in the cold), the headphones would be ridiculously uncomfortable. So, being that these issues keep coming up, I figured that it might be a good idea to move on to another set of headphones.
For gaming I've been using the wireless Sony Pulse headphones. They're these absolutely awesome over-ear headphones, providing nice sound quality, a decent microphone, and they're really comfortable. They don't work with phones or anything like that though.
Being that I liked the Pulse's so much, I started my research with Sony and found a few interesting headsets, but none of them really clicked with me. Then I talked to one of my friends who suggested that I get V-Modas. I checked out their website and they seemed pretty cool, and they're definitely on my short list right now. I was mainly looking at the Crossfade LP1, Crossfade LP2, and the Crossfade M80. I've heard quite a lot of varying opinions about which are the best out of the bunch, so it'd be nice to know what you guys thought. While they're the ones that I'm highly considering though, I'm definitely open to other suggestions. I'm mostly just considering them because of my friend's suggestion.
I'm really sorry that I've been so all over the place, but I suppose that I best tell you what I'm looking for in my new headphones. I want them to be comfortable, have good sound quality, be over the ear (although on ear is OK if they're really comfortable), really durable, and somewhere between 70 and 200 bucks (preferably no more than 150). A nice design wouldn't hurt either. When I work out, I usually enjoy listening to music, so it would be nice if I could use them while working out, but they definitely don't need to be specialized in doing so as I'm most likely just going to be using them while walking around or taking the bus. It'd also be cool if the could isolate sound or be noise-canceling, and have not too much sound leakage, as I do listen to them on the bus pretty often. And I don't care about their gaming capabilities as my Sony Pulses already cover that. I listen to all sorts of music, ranging from classical to rock, to pop, to a bit of techno, and quite a lot of internet parodies. I also watch a ton of Youtube videos and even some Netflix on my phone. The only thing that I'm not too fond of is rap, or at least most of it. I enjoy some rap though, like ERB and Macklemore. Oh, right, and I have an HTC One. It'd be awesome, in fact a priority, for the headphones to have a microphone and volume controls on the cable. I haven't been able to find many headphones that are compatible like that with Android phones, although I have heard that some headphones, like the V-Modas, that have detachable cables, can use Android-specific cables.
In no particular order, here's a brief summary:
1) Durable
2) Nice sound quality
3) Comfortable
4) Preferably over ear, but on ear is OK if it's comfortable
5) Somewhere between 70 and 200 bucks but preferably below 150 bucks
6) Android compatible mic and volume controls (although if you can just hook up an android compatible cable to them without hurting the overall capabilities of the headphones, that would be amazing)
7) Nice design (Not necessary, but would be nice)
8) Capable of playing all sorts of music, and playing them well
9) It'd be nice if they could be used to work out with, but they don't need to specialize in it
10) It'd be cool if they isolated noise or were noise cancelling, but that's not necessary, but keeping them from leaking too much sound out is somewhat important as I use them in public places quite a lot.
