My HD 280's have finally bit the dust as their fragile band has snapped in two :frowning2:

I'm now looking for some advice on what headphones would be good to try out. I currently have the HD 650 and 380 on my list but I'd like to know if there are any others you would advise me to try out.

I watch a good deal of movies and I don't have a specific genre of music I like to listen to, but a lot of my favorite bands have some great guitar in them. So I was thinking having a headphone with nice treble and decent bass would be great.

Thanks for the help!

I've heard Grado's are known for how great they sound with metal but how do they sound with things like alternative rock and regular movies?

Alessandro MS-2i / Grado SR325i

Buy a used Alessandro MS-1 then send them out for Martin Customs cups and cable (check the SR-60 mod thread to see why you really want to do this)

Grado SR-225i

Beyerdynamic T50p

These all run off similar power to the HD280 pro's yet their detail retrieval is going to be massively better, you'll get more of a midrange out of any of these. I'm a gigantic fan of Martin Customs. It's like getting an RS-1 for like half the price.
