Hi All! Great forum! First time post! Yeah!

Finally got myself a pair of HD590's. I've been an avid fan and user of a pair of Grado SR125's, and one thing just blew me away about the Sens. My god, these 590's are comfortable!

I've been wanting to upgrade from the 125's for a while now, and after reading the reviews, I thought the 590's would be a nice compromise between the sheer impact of the Grados and smooth Sens.

Anyways, I've been breaking them in slowly, but I feel I may have to sell them. Perhaps I'm jaded after owning the SR125's, but I find the 590's so... umm... bland.

I also find the bass a little boomy. Hopefully, the breaking-in would help with that. Perhaps I need a better amp (I'm just using the Airhead right now) and better components.

So what should I do? I'm thinking of upgrading to the HeadRoom Little More Power and a better CD source (which brings up the question of SACD, etc...). Hmm... I think I just made up my mind...

First the amp and source, and if I still don't like them, I'll get the SR225 or SR325, and sell my 125's.

Damn those Grados! I've been sucked in and I'll never get out. However, after trying on the Sens, I don't think I'll ever find anything more comfy...

Well, enough with my first post! Cheers everyone!

if you find them lacking you might try the 580s ...about as comfy...
better build quality too.... go to your local hifi store ...and try them ...

Hi,

As a new 590 owner, I can say that break in will cure your complains. It is NOT bland, ans bass is VERY tight. I had the same feeling as you when I just got my 590, but now after 80 hours, I can say it is great.

And yeah, it is VERY comfortable.

After break in, can your do a AB test and write a mini review on sound quality? I know Grado is not comfortable. But I would like to see the comparison between them.

Thanks.

I think the HD 590 is one of those phones that need excessive burn in time to show of their full potential. I heard these get better day by day so I would recommend you keep them for a while then make your decision. They may need as much as 100 hours of break-in time.
