Hi everybody, as you can see i am a fairly new member here, but i have been hanging around both here and headwize for at least a year as a non member. So it actually feels like i know some of you already

Anyway I became a headophile AFTER i bought my first real cans (DT 831). I was blown away with the sound compared to cheaper models that common unenlightened people use and needed to find people of my own kin.
I found this forum, built myself a CMOY, found out that i´m not alone with this obsessive hobby/addiction.

So thank you all for being here and i hope i can give something back as well

Than we have the compulsory wallet-question, i know, i know, and unfortunately i too am affected by it: currently saving up for a prehead and then later maybe the DT 880

welcome... Good to hear that you like those headphones. It was a toss up for me between them and the K271's when I bought my first set of decent cans.

lol @ common unenlightened people

Even if they are way better than any cheap stuff I can´t say that i am 100% happy with them. They are extremely clear sounding and positioning of instruments are incredible but they are too bright if you ask me.

Before my crossfeed-amp they were not so enjoyable but the crossfeed soothened out the harshness a bit. What also had a big impact on the sound was the use of carbon resistors in the passway on the amp.

I built two identical CMOY´s one with metal film res and one with carbon and the difference is like night and day: the former really harsh, the latter much smoother.

So, you hung around here for a long time, built a couple cmoys and then finally signed up to post.
Should you really be considered a new guy?
