So what do you guys think of the new Gameboy? Sure seems more pocketable than all previous gameboys - shaped more like a cellphone. I think I might finally upgrade from my 1st gen gameboy...

Last I heard, they hadn't announced the pricing. That is what is going to determine if it sells or not. The GBA SP isnt exactly a huge device either so I'm not sure if I'll get a micro or not. I do like the miniscule size of it though.

Edit: The GBA has some quality RPG's worth playing years after their release.

Nintendo truly confuses me with their actions. They continue to innovate the shape and form of their portable systems, yet I remain uninterested in their products since I feel like the game selection isn't what I would hope and their graphics quality aren't leaps and bounds forward. oh well, i do hope they succeed. competition in the gaming market is a good thing...

Thats why I included the

with it. It was just like "wow, that is really pink. almost blinding." Sorry for the topic deviation.

I agree. I sometimes wonder if Nintendo is in the business of making money r not For instance, the next generation currently will not have HD output because as the nintendo person put it, "we dont feel gamers are interested in HD". Whats up with that? The Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games will only carry you so long.

Edit: They are probably banking on people like me who just buy the systems just for those franchise games.

redshifter: didn't they recently re-release Metroid for the GBA? i certainly hope nintendo continues its trend of backward-compatibility between its portable units. that is one thing i've enjoyed about them: my GBA (non-sp) plays my old GB (1st gen) games no prob

It is hard to let Tetris and Dr Mario go. I still play those from time to time.

Edit: Who remembers being able to get the original GB metroid for X amount of Kool Aid points (with s&h)? That's how I got my copy.

I believe backwards compatibility is supposed to be the same as SP.

After my first gen broke, I gave away all my games...arg! I had a 1st gen cartridge from Asia that had like 200 games on it lol...including Alleyway, Dr. Mario, and Battle City, some of my personal favs of all time.

I honestly think this is stupid. Nintendo is trying to attract more of the "hip" crowd: ipod users and bratty spoiled kids. (In some of the interviews they mention wanting it to be like the ipod in success and mainstreamness) Didn't they try that with the fold-up version? Yeah . . . I only ever see children and nerd-boys with them in public. And when I say "nerd-boy" I mean those annoyings dudes that resemble younger versions of nick the computer guy from SNL.

The screen is smaller than the regular gameboy adv, and reports say that reading text is a problem. Whoever thinks that whipping out their fancy gamboy micro in public will make em look cool or stylish, must've been dropped too many times as a baby. Hell, at least the fold-up had a backlight (which I wish my gba had . . .).

I'm gonna stick with my old purple gba. That I rarely use in the first place. BTW, zelda minish cap: damn fun game.

cool, i have a handful of games from my 1st gen gb that i still like. i grew up on side-scrollers and still like them. this might be the ticket to get those old games out again.

this is just a crappier remake of the GBA. Only benefit is size and "sleekness", at teh cost of screen real estate. (IIRC)
