I'm really happy to see that despite it being the most affordable offer in the lineup, it ticks all the boxes: fast chipset and all modern features, signature design, and, of course, a good sound

I didn't test DX170 (not sure when it'll be available in Ukraine, but I'll try to do my best to get it asap), but compared to DX160 M11S is more technical both in terms of non-sonic features and in terms of sound (a bit more refined and natural, with better-developed treble). But in this case, it's not surprising I think, as it's much fairer to compare with DX170

Is the M11s amplification stage balanced like the M11 plus? I see two DAC chips (L and R) are noted, but there's no mention of dual amp modules like the plus' 2x THX 78...

Yes, the M11s has 4 channels amp so don't worry about it.

It seems dongles aren't going to replace DAPs quite yet.

As the Brits say "horses for courses". Different use cases. For example, my Cayin RU6 provides headphone out from my iPad Pro.

My Fiio M11 Pro is for out walking and mobility around the house.

iPad Pro > RU6 > Grado SR325

Looks like @FiiO officially announced the M11S this morning in their Autumn Launch Event II. Surprised they haven't made an official thread for the player yet.

I had pre-ordered this player from @Audio46 back on Aug 22, and followed up with them after FiiO's announcement but they still have no ETA on when they will have it in stock.
