A new Eddie Current headphone amplifier is due to land here for a short stay. I will give my thoughts, on the product, in a simple but honest and through review. It will be a couple of weeks.

Good luck on the review, just make sure to take it nice and easy and dont forget to enjoy the darn thing as well!

When I did the raptor review, i really had like 1 hour of actual non-critical listening - i listened to the raptor for 2 straight weeks many hours a day while taking copius notes and making numerous observations. When i was done, i listened to one CD while dancing in my room and then I returned it to Ray

Hey Mike,

I'll get the DM-1 out to you today. PM me your phone number for shipping and confirm your shipping address for me. If you can get it done before noon, I can make the morning pickup.

Is it this one? If so, can you tell us a bit about it. I heard this at a recent detroit meet but never really got an explanation of what it is.

Yes sir, Craig, the brilliant mind at Eddie Current, is whipping up some more goodies for all of us.

First: the DM-1 which is a transformer design. The plan is to phase out the HD25 which will be replaced by theDM-1. The design philosophy on the DM-1was borrowed from the EC2A3. Craig said “There is something very organic and involving about the film power supply in the EC2A3, beyond the great sound of the 2A3 tube itself. That is an amazing amp.” The DM-I is a dual mono design. Each channel has it's own tube rectifier. The output tube is one of the most musical triodes, and is run at one third of it's rated plate power. It also sports two “HUGE” special transformers. The amp runs cool and will be in an enclosed chassis.

Second: (no name) the HD300 which will be replaced by another proto which is an OTL design. That amp uses a tube rectifier and has better drive and
sonics than the current HD300.

Third: (no name),will use a regulated solid-state power supply. It will use different output tubes, also an OTL design.

Fourth: This EC entry level amp is solid-state and runs on batteries. It is the model Bat Head.

Well there you have it. Some good things to watch out for in the near future.

One of my favorite amps is the Moth Si2A3

Do they still make these amps? I am interested in the full presentation - the moth label, the wooden crate (reusable with hinges etc.) because it SPANKS of old school.

And that amp sounded so brilliant...solid state in speed and attack with a balmy fragrance of tube warmth...

Loved it and I want it!!

Yes, I believe you can. You must ask Craig for sure. Mine is bigger and longer than the 2A3SI and it came in the nifty crate also. I want to strip off the stapled on packing papers and random black writting. Than I want to stain it redish brown followed with a few coats of gloss polyurethane. And then maybe staple in some red velour fabric over the inside glued in foam inserts. Then add four mini castors to the bottom of the crate with a silky red 3/4" dia. rope pull for it.
