Well it seem that ebay will implement a new feedback system.

New feature!!
Buyer can only receive a positive feeback no matter what he does

Ok let review the step I have to do in that case
1-talk to the buyer (hmm that will help I'm sure)
2-check if I'm the seller is not in the wrong
3-refraint from puting limit such as no refunds since that can end up with a moron leaving me a negative feedback

4- ok ebay will help me then if it clear that I put No refund and the buyer is a ass.... oups no 4th point

When I first joined eBay 5 years ago, I was quite concerned about leaving negative feedback for anyone in case they left it for me out of spite!

But it didn't take me long to realise that if everyone thought like me - no one could be sure how 'accurate' a seller's feedback really was. And I thought if someone DID leave retaliatory neg f/b - then other buyers could probably figure it out for themselves.

Over the years I've only left around 5 neg f/bs which were well and truly deserved (item not received, no response to e-mails about it, that kind of thing), and no one has retaliated so far.

The changes will stop sellers holding buyers to ransom. I've lost count of how many times I've been asked to leave feedback first after I've paid for the item immediately! I've paid - so I've fulfilled my part of the bargain.

When I sell something, I always leave feedback immediately the payment's gone through. I don't wait for the buyer's feedback first.

Having said that - if I sold an item to someone with a history of bad feedback, I might wait until they've got the item first before leaving feedback - but as a general rule, I leave it as soon as they've paid. But as a buyer - I find I rarely get feedback until I've left it for the seller first!

Anyway, I welcome the changes!

Does anyone know the steps to contest a negative feedback?

I was just left one last week, the first in over three years, for something ridiculous and I would like to know how to challenge it.

The only neg feedback I've ever gotten has been retaliatory. I bought an mp3 player that was DOA and it took the 4 weeks to respond to my emails. Apparently I "misused" the neg feedback system.

omg!

this actually makes a lot of sense - a lot. i can't believe it. ebay has been so stupid for so many years. for them to actually do something smart is amazing.

Well, technically, the seller is supposed to leave feedback immediately after receiving payment for the item. That's what I do if I'm the seller, because technically the buyer has already held up their end of the bargain. Instead, most sellers "hold you hostage" until you leave them feedback. eBay needs to crack down on this.

I think it's a great idea. It is about time to stop the pointless retaliatory feedback.

i have been on ebay for 7 years. under the current feedback system, there are generally only these scenarios.

1. buyer pays. everything is fine. leaves no feedback. seller leaves nothing as well b/c cardinal rule of seller is to never leave feedback first.

2. same as above except buyer leaves positive. seller maybe leaves buyer positive in return. but no incentive to as he already got his positive to increase his rating and facilitate more sales.

3. buyer pays. problem with item in some way. does nothing b/c rightly fears retaliatory neg. so seller gets to sell shoddy item and keep his 100 percent positive rating.

4. same as above except buyer, some would say foolishly, leaves appropriate feedback in the form of a neutral or neg. seller leaves neg in return to teach him and others a lesson.

BUT NOW, "sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers."

brilliant.

my one negative feedback was as a buyer...and i left POSITIVE feedback for the guy but mentioned that the item wasn't exactly as stated. so i gave a positive, he gave me a retaliatory negative b/c he said it's not really a positive b/c i said some "bad things" in the comments. oh well...ebay wouldn't do anything about it so there went my 100% rating. i like the new policies.

The new implementation seems fine for most cases, but what about when the buyer gets the item and mishandles/breaks it and wants a refund? Or when they do a buy and switch, and wants to return their original defective item on your expense?

Am aware everybody would like a 100% perfect feedback but I think that's unrealistic. I thought so 8 years ago when I joined eBay and I still think so.

As such I don't hesitate buying from sum1 with 97-99.9% feedback. There will always be weirdos. Buying only from 100% feedback sellers is dumb and if u do, oh well, more for me!

To my way of thinking, 100% feedback sellers service is TOO GOOD, their prices must be higher than what I think are best deals. Service is not cheap.

I think the 2 of the 4 negative feebacks I have gotten are no longer with eBay, just goes to show.

That's why I always include automatic insurance on my shipping&handling. Typically only costs an extra 2 buxs or so, cheap for zero headache for me and my buyers.

Some (good) sellers spell out no return if optional insurance not selected.

Here some point about the feedback system. That was before he was aware that you cannot give buyer negative feedback but with that system if you receive negative feedback from the buyer you have some restriction.

It just occurred to me that the whole either +/- rating of Ebay is inadequately dumb to begin with. I mean, how can someone sum up their shopping/buying experience into a three restrictive categories of only positive, neutral, negative (and the neutral is almost equivalent to a negative anyway)?

I think other sites, such Amazon, got it right with a 1->5 star rating system. The 5 star system would reflect everyone's score more accurately and be more telling. In such a system, anything over 90% is damn good because there are always those that are never satisfied and will give lower scores than deserved.
