New: EarStudio HUD100 Hi-Fi USB DAC

For anyone curious, radsone informed me that the HUD100 is now available to the US, shipping directly from Korea, via amazon.

I don’t think I saw it on there the last time I looked.

Note shipping costs are higher right now for obvious reasons, though they have a 12% discount going on right now as well to offset the costs (shows up at checkout):

I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but I thought those who are interested might want to know. : )

Price point is getting better especially if MQA rendering capabilities and 10 band EQ functionality can be added. It would be nice to have slightly higher performance - DSD 256 native. I believe the AK4377 chip can support it.

The above unit with an app similar to the Earstudio app available in the ES100 - "now we would be talking".

@radsone - Since the HUD-100 has the Arm Cortex processor is it possible to ADD the above functionality via firmware update? (MQA / DSD 256 native / App w/ EQ)

Otherwise not sure why one would not go with a FIIO BTR5 with 384K/32Bit Native DSD256, 2.5 balanced, Bluetooth, Battery, EQ and App especially for it listing as $109 on Amazon w/ free delivery.

Seems like the BTR5 would be a more cost effective and functional DAC overall.

Not sure what about this product. One of the best features of the ES100 is the app and its EQ capabilities. This device would be more interesting if it had that functionality. Maybe we'll see it in the HUD200.

Thank you for your interest in HUD100. HUD100's main usage is for laptops. You can easily adjust EQ from your laptop's EQ controls which provide almost the same EQ control as the Earstudio app. You can still enjoy our proprietary DCT technology that minimizes jitter and also our custom tuned EQ preset through the Dynamic mode on HUD100.

Good point! I may look into one of these when my ES100 bites the dust. Hopefully, not anytime soon. It's been working well for close to 2 years now.
