New DT880 or DT990?

Now that the DT990 is supposedly the new flagship model, does it mean that it is better? Because on Thomann.de the DT880 HiFi costs like 30euro more than the DT990 HiFi. Makes you wonder

And what kind of cheap amp does one need to run these out of his Audigy? PA2V2 or GoVibe (and which opamp?)?

Death to my wallet I say.

Already ordered a PX100 for my iAudio U2. Does the pain stop?

Based on the fact that some people actually preferred the old DT990 over the DT880, and the new DT990 is supposed to be refined (and according to someone who listened to them, more like the DT880), I think it's very much a question about personal taste & preferences.

However, I think there will be lot comparisons between these two in the near future here at Head-Fi. Time will tell

Well, I listen mostly to Rock/House/Trance/Alternative/Oldies... because I live in a hole, I have no way to go to some store and listen to headphones (I don't think that most stores do that anyway, over here that is).

Would love a recommendation before I take the plunge and drop down some 200 euro.
