If you think it sounds great now give it about 200 hours of burn in , that's when everything really "comes together" so to speak. Speaking of the H5.

I'm beginning to understand this treble roll-off. It's nothing serious though and doesn't take away any of my enjoyment

Does it go away with burn-in?

The bass get's tighter in my opinion after burn in (less colored) alot of the "colorig" goes away actually. Hence the highs clear a bit , more balanced.

As an alternative you could watch the Amplification For Sale / Trade forum for a used one to turn up.
Although at this point I expect they will become:
a) less frequent to appear
b) more highly in demand
c) slightly higher priced

Hi there Newbie here!

Is it still possible to order these?

I've had a good read though the thread and it would appear this is just the baby to park between my mac and hd25's?

Please call me a goon if need be!

Regards

Rob

Hey you ordered one, sweet. Guess this means my New Brunswick headfive isn't as limited edition as it used to be.

Got the amp, shipped on Monday, arrived on Wednesday - that's fast

First impressions - unit is larger than I thought, nice finish and details, light is indeed very bright - too early to say anything sensible about the sound, but quickly comparing with no-amp and the Pro-Ject Headbox (mkII) I had earlier, the improvement is obvious, and on the level I was hoping it to be. Dynamics are noticeably better and the amp (which clearly colors the sound) seems to add substance/body to the sound of MS-1s (which can get overly thin and sharp with certain material). Interesting to see how the sound evolves throughout the run-in.

Props to Jan for an excellent and affordable product, glad that I finally decided to get one.
