New comply tip review.

Hi guys, just thought I'd share this information with you as the fit and isolation of the Sennheiser IE8's seems to be a hot topic of contention.

I was using the comply T-400 and although I was happy with the fit and sound I did happen to find myself adjusting them every so often to keep things in place while in the gym.

I recently decided to order the new TX-400 out of curiosity and WOW! I ordered the LARGE size so this only applies to them I think. The overall diameter is exactly the same as the normal size but they are rougly 4mm longer. Now this doesnt sound like a lot but it feels like they go much further into the ear and the isolation they provide is increased 10 fold. I can now feel the air tight feeling that I used to get with my UE super.fi 5 pro's. Add to that a wax guard to protect your IEM's and they're great. I suggest everyone with IE8's give them a go!

The only point to note is that they also increase the bass response hugely. Mine were on the highest setting and I've now had to back the adjuster off to halfway. If yours are already set on minimum they may not be for you.

But...how's the treble?

The treble is exactly the same as before. If you liked it then you still will (like me), if you thought it was recessed then it still will be. But having said that mine have only got about 50 hours on them.

Gotcha. But you mean the IE8's have 50, or the tips?

The IE8's have about 50 hours of use. The tips have about 4 hours.

LOL; yeah I find that it takes about 500hrs of burn-in using pink noise for comply to sound their best. initially before burn-in when inserted they sound spongy and compressed; but afterwards the soundstage expands markedly

How's the durability on these ones?

The foam seems a bit more dense so life span might increase slightly but too early to tell.

i dont know if i understand how burning in tips is useful. sorry for ignorance, im kinda new to this. Anyone care to explain?

it never ceases to amaze me how sometimes; even with the use of emoticons; facetious/sarcastic undertones are missed by some people (although there was no undertones there, right out in the open). I know this is an international forum and english is not everyone's first language, I understand that; but come on!!, even on a forum such as this for something like that to be taken seriously, with or without emoticons, even for a minute is beyond me. Perhaps this is an indication of just how far out some of the stuff we talk about here is, for someone to even consider my comment as serious, long enough to want clarification.
