Just wondering how many of you do this. Do you buy a new minidisc whenever you buy a new cd? Or do you rerecord old ones? I'm at a point where I have about 17 MDs, and my cd collection is really outgrowing my md collection. . . any thoughts?

i record my new cd's to md right away. I'm up to about 200 md's right now. can't bear to delete 'em for some reason. but as soon as i get my type-s deck i'll start recording in lp2, deleting my old md's, and re recording. more economical.

p.s
just saw your sale in the market forum andrzejpw. are you giving up md's or buying a new one?

I'm not sure but I think Type-S is cancelled out when using LP mode (I could be wrong on that though).

LP mode is still very impressive though - when I used MD I used that mode all the time.

well, I don't need all my jazz and uch CDs on MD, but otherwise, when I buy a CD, it goes straight onto MD. not sure how many MDs I have, but I'm a couple short, so I need to invest a bit I think. need to have everthing available for the off-chance I might feel like listening to it on the go

I don't really re-write MD's unless I'm absolutely sure I'll never need it again. This doesn't happen very often.
I generally make a compilation from 2 or 3 CD's on an 80 minute blank in SP mode, not recording tracks I don't want. When I start getting low on MD's I'll buy another pack of 5 or 10.

BTW There's a thread like this going on at another MD forum...

I don't listen to all my CD's portably. A handfull of favs I always seem to want to take with me so those have stayed on MD too. A small number have been recorded over for new stuff.

A few analog recordings off of cable stereo broadcasts (like a few vH1 Storytellers eps, and some A&E Live by Request shows) are permanent though. This is one reason I love MD.

I listen to new CD's at work and make a note of the good songs by track number, then I program those songs and compile them onto a MD at home.

Type-S only makes LP mode recordings "sound better" and doesn't actually affect recording in anyway, AFAIK.

I've got 50+ MDs, and about 5 CDs, so I only buy new blanks when I don't want to erase any discs. Generally, when I buy a new CD, I've got quite a choice to which MD it goes onto.
