Hi, i'd want to upgrade from a pair of senns hd555 and i'd like to buy these cans. I will connect them directy to the output of an aureon space sound card without an amp. Is this wrong? tnx

The K601 is fairly inefficient (more so than the Sennheiser HD-580/-600/-650) and an amp is quite necessary to obtain reasonable volume without having to overwork the card's op-amp. Of interest, I listen quite a lot to mine on the AudioTrak Prodigy soundcard - which has a built-in headamp - and most of the time I prefer listening with the headamp activated.

Regards.

The Prodigy headamp drives the K601 fine. You won't find yourself in dire need of a separate amp, if that is what you want to know. The Prodigy is a great balanced-sounding card and the K601 helps show that off.
