I would have liked to try gen 3 but the new design looks not good in my eyes. Also one part of t1 g1/g2 is the good synergy with high impedance amps. That is thrown away in g3

Your lucky you didn't go for the V3. I have the T1V2 and I bought the V3. I returned it the day after I received it. Totally different tuning. I could only use it at all with my Auralic Taurus solid state amp. Even with my transformer coupled Cayin tube amp it was unlistenable.

I did get some replacemnt earpads for my T1V2 that are a major step up from stock. I am not one to comment on earpads even though I have dozens around I have tried on my different headphones. Most never got any real use just a listen. These I found from a reliable manufactuer and I actually bought them to try on my DT1990 Pro but I got bored when they came in yesterday and slipped them on my T1V2. My God are these things comfortable (I have big ears) and they are an obvious sound upgrade. I am listening to them now and can't believe how they have improved these heaphones for classical music. The soundstage opened to HD800 level with very precise imaging. Magnificient soundstage. Tonal quality is also improved. So here is a link. I know you guys can't order from my source but you can probably find it on Amazon or Ali Express. Here is a link to my purchase. The DT1990 and T1 pad size are the same. I haven't taken it off my T1 to try it on my DT1990 Pro and probably will just order another of the same to try on those. These are staying on my T1V2. I need to mention I ordered the cooling gel version. I was not really expecting them to be this amazing. Just ordered on a lark. They are really inexpensive (at least from my location)

I actually sold of dt1990 due to comfort, also they have a spike in the frequency. Tbh I think they would have been fixed with some dekoni suede.

The pads you linked looked kinda cool.

The pads you linked are probably deeper also, the same happens with dekoni pads. You get a fuller sound and wider soundstage.

They are a little deeper and look like high quality pads. I should have mentioned that ad I bought from is in Thai Baht you divide by 38 to get USD. So the cost is very reasonable much cheaper then Denaki. The cooling gel actually works like memory foam but has a cooling effect. Very interesting and different. I also ordered the velour but haven't got around to trying them yet on the DT1990. I stongly suspect these would cure that peak on the DT1990 Pro. They sure sound fantastic on the T1V2. The soundstage is not just wider it is layered and deeper.

I use the Feliks Echo Tube amp, bought it for the introduction price 320euro and would have bought it again for the price listed now if it broke down. Or I use them with their own amp A 20, great sounding together with high impedance headphones like T1 or ZMF models.

Beyerdynamic A2 at 100 ohm output imedance with +6 decibels has tightened base and mids of Beyerdynamic T1 2nd generation. It also put adequate control on treble which finally sounds normal. I've used T1 with Arcam rHead which did not have problems in pushing T1 to the highest level, but it did not control base and treble sufficiently due to low output impedance < 0.5 ohm. I would like to try them out with tube amp one day, but T2 on A2 actually sounds warmer than with Marantz PM8006 headphone output.

I bought a used A20 a year ago, to be a solid state its perfect match for high impedance headphones like the T1 or ZMF models. It is a middle ground in between tube and solidstate. I often don't bother with warming up the tube amp, when im having short sessions.

I wonder how it compares to the A2 amp, which is the higher end model when paired with T1.2 or T1.3. Would seem like it's only worth it for even higher end headphones, which Beyer doesn't currently produce. I'd imagine it would match well with my LCD-4 too, if you enjoy a warmer sound. My Moon 430HA doesn't pair well with my T1.2, so the A2 seems like quite a steal, at it's discounted price, for use with my T1 and other Beyers.

Edit: A comparison of the A2 and/or A20 to the Schiit Lyr/Lyr 2/Lyr 3 would be interesting as well.:)

I recently reunited with my BD T1.2 that I bought in 2018. In the past few years I got a few other headphones and extra headphone pads. I think I still don't like the stock pads as it is too muddy and boomy to my ear. But after some experiments I found the zmf universal perforated pads work quite well with it (to my taste, ymmv). It is powered by A20 if it matters.

Nice, did try the zmf suede or leather?

Been very close to buy the zmf pad in suede, right now I'm rocking the dekoni elite velour on T1 G2. Not muddy at all, but increase the bass and the highs remain very much the same. Would say the sound becomes a little more u shaped with this.
