All manufactures makes such small silent upgrades over the life span of a product, and we should be happy that they do... The only way to avoid this is not to buy any products that involves some sort of technology (difficult).

No one is saying this is a bad thing. However it can be frustrating when it is something as obvious as this (should've been cleared at design stage early on) so fairly soon into a products life cycle. I'm a fan of beyerdynamic, but their silent revisions (which are at times quite signifcant) do tend to be a little annoyingm

Did they do away with the plastic cup pivots or change the headband adjustment mechanism? I've never had any problems with the T-1 headband, I think it works pretty well as is. However, the plastic pivots do look out of place on a high end headphone.

Answer:
Still made of plastic :frowning2:

OK, I thought the pads on the Gen 2 were different from the pads on the Gen 1, so I called beyerdynamic US to find out about the new pads. They said the pads are the EDT990v, same as the old pads. He even checked his "spec sheet" to confirm this. Does that sound about right?

No, it's not right. If you remove the gen1 pads you will see three rolls of small holes around the backside of the pad. The gen 2 has a single roll of larger holes around the backside of the pad. Although, the gen2 pads may have replaced the gen1 pads in the parts catalog.

Thanks. Does anyone have a part number for the T1 Gen 2 pads?

Anyone from beyerdynamic listening, by any chance?

Until you have a Blue Hawaii or a Liquid Gold, then answer is almost always: There is something better

Are you happy with the sound?
