New Beyerdynamic T1 (2nd Generation)
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:09 AM Post #106 of 3,911
Beyerdynamic headphones tend to have a bright sound signature (full size ones), thus they perform better with warm sounding amps. Hugo itself is bright, so I think the combination wouldn't work well. I didn't like the 1st gen T1 with Hugo when I heard it, perhaps 2nd gen will sound different?..

Woo Audio WA2 is known to have great synergy with the T1 - I wonder if that will continue to be so?

I would think so. They only made minor changes to the dampening. And I found the WA2/T1 brighter than other good matches, so if they made T1 slightly less bright it still should be nice :)

We made improvements on ear cushions, driver dampening material and the composite baffle material. All this together adds to a smoother complete spectrum, lowered naroow-band resonances and a slightly stronger bass response.

I stand corrected

But still - it would surprise me if great amplifier matches for the T1 would be significantly worse matches for the T1v2. But only time will show..

I ordered my T1 v2 August 19 directly from beyerdynamic.com Does anybody have a sense of when they are going to start shipping? Has anyone gotten theirs yet? Very curious to hear first impressions.

Also: hi all! newbie here...

In regards to amplification, I imagine that the revised T1, like the Sennheiser HD800, would need a goodly amount of both volts and current on tap to shine. This has the added the advantage of taking the edge off any aberrant high frequencies. For example, in solid state options, Violectric amplifiers offer this combination of volts, to drive the 600 impedance, and current.

Word from Beyerdynamic is 'September', but I'd not count on Sept 1st
IFA in Berlin is Sept 4th - 9th, I'd expect shipping to start after that...

I think it's great the MSRP went from $1399 to $1099 in the USA. I really look forward to listening to the T1 G2 at RMAF in October.

Better to wait for product to be fully tested and ready then rushed. 4 to 6 weeks is short time to be 100% sure it's ready if you plan to enjoy them over period of few years. My guess is they will ship beginning of October. Should be exciting month.

I had no idea about this and did not see them at Can Jam, curses

Personally I like the original out of Hugo and I heard them out of Hugo TT and they sounded excellent

T1 is my first flagship and the classic all rounder headphone so very interesting news
