Sound wise? Do you mean it has a similar tonality?700 Pro X is great sound and comfortable. Almost challenges the Meze 109 sound wise.

Headphoneus Supremus
I have done the exact same thing... I do have them on a headphone stand which has a narrow section for the headband to rest on so using this as a way to help wear down a strip of the middle of the headband padding faster to improve headband comfort and eliminate potential hot spot issues (problem I had with the DT 900 Pro X). ...
No more hotspots and it has really become one of the most comfortable headphones I own (except for the Meze's ofc)
the dent is in the centre, I just lack photo taking skills
DT 770 ProX with 700 Pro X pads is the best of all imo.
Anybody mod the headphones to make them balanced, i.e. replaced 3-pin mini XLR with a 4-pin mini XLR socket and rewired the headphones accordingly?
If yes, was it worth it?

Another question:
Did anybody try Dekoni Audio Elite Sheepskin Replacement Ear Pads for the DT700 Pro X ?
If yes, please comment on sound and comfort

Unfortunately the left earcup of my DT 700 has recently started cracking around the mini-xlr connector as shown in the picture below. This is not giving any real usage issue but I am a bit afraid it may get worse as I continue using the headphones. Has anybody run into similar problems with their Pro X's?
Warranty ?
I should have approximately 1 year of warranty left. I also contacted Beyerdynamic's customer support to get their advise on the matter.Warranty ?

I experienced the headband quality issue and replaced it today. I felt compelled to write a post about it.
I bought my pair last June, I suppose it was an early model. I used it daily since then and as of today, over eight months later, the leather is almost entirely peeled off on both sides of the band. There has been no stress to pull the leather out, the glue simply gave up. It's not sticky at all anymore.
Apparently the new versions have improved amounts of leather in the headband. I had to buy a replacement one from a US supplier (I'm in Canada, where Beyerdynamic's support is non-existent and part availability is worse, so shipping alone was the price of the damn replacement). Luckily it's the improved version with more leather.
I do not understand what Beyerdynamic was thinking with this original design. The amount of foam they put into the band has the leather under a constant degree of stress, there was no way that tiny little extra bit of leather in the original design would be able to hold it together forever. Even if they used super glue, which they didn't, it would not last with that much pressure and heat from use, and so little surface area that could adhere to the plastic.
The new version looks a LOT more promising so here's hoping but it's absolute bull they are not offering free replacements to all purchasers. This is such a basic and rudimentary design flaw, you can tell it won't work from just LOOKING at it.
It's such a shame because I otherwise love these headphones. They've improved my Counter-Strike game for sure.
Update to this. Even with the new headband and the improved amount of leather, it has begun peeling from the ends, where the leather is cut shortest. It's not nearly as bad as the original version but disappointing nonetheless. It has not even been a full year.
It's especially annoying as I am in Canada, and Beyerdynamic's support here is utterly absent. Shipping this $20 part costs $35 extra in shipping costs alone. Last time I doubled it up with a second pair of ear cups so I can swap and clean as I go, but now I think I'll have to work on regluing this headband.

You're not suppose to lasso headphones onto your head, man. xD in all seriousness damn, I have the 700's too. Perhaps the craftsmanship is a little different compared to the 770s? Maybe a different type of plastic or overall design flaw. Anyway I hope you get things squared away with Beyerdynamic!Unfortunately the left earcup of my DT 700 has recently started cracking around the mini-xlr connector as shown in the picture below. Having read the comments above, I decided to give my DT700 Pro X a thorough examination and am happy to report that they look like new after over a year of moderate use (at home only)
Upon contacting Beyerdynamic, they suggested me to file a warranty/replacement request to let their technical staff evaluate the issue. I decided to wait and, luckily, the crack in the earcup has not worsened so I am keeping my DT 700 as they are. I suppose I will buy a headband replacement at some point, though. You're not suppose to lasso headphones onto your head, man. xD in all seriousness damn, I have the 700's too. What performance are you expecting to squeeze by changing the cable, lol? Dt700 and 900 cables are fully adequate, you won't gain any inceased quality by changing the cable.I prefer D700. I still love the 600ohm DT990 - they're classics - but compared to D700, they lack body and the mids feel especially thin. They seem to have struck a very good balance with the tuning on the D700 - preserving what's great about the DT990/DT770, but addressing and correcting all the flaws in the FR. My only quibble is the cable, which feels a bit cheap. I'm in the process of ordering a few 3rd party cables and if they can squeeze more performance from the D700, then all the better.
Dt700 is way too bass-heavy in my experience, but it probably depends on the music you listen to. For me it was impossible to listen to some rock where bass is emphasized in a song. It's like having a subwoofer on your head, which did not do it for me.

HD560s are very mid-heavy headphones, compared to DT700 or DT900. HD560s also lack treble clarity, although appear to have more of it, strangely. On some busy rock songs hi hats just vanish, for example. This is one of the reasons I returned them. It cannot be considered a reference headphone if it cannot handle busy mixes.Well i gave in and purchased a pair as reviews were all over the shop and figured it's a person by person basis in regards to performance more so on these than other headsets, but they'll be returned ASAP (mainly due to a faulty plug)
They're definitely semi closed as you can hear the difference just by putting them on in regards to noise isolation and they aren't wide in the sound stage either. But in saying that although small the sound stage almost made you feel "there" is it's very very intimate. Imaging on the other hand is brilliant, and seems onpar with the 560s
They sound GREAT, but the mids are so forward and in your face it takes away alot from what it's trying to accomplish, your mileage may vary
And one thing no one seems to comment on, is the HEAT generated by these on your ears. It's getting hot here in Australia and i would not recommend these to anyone that lives in a warm/hot climate as the pads hold heat quite bad.. especially coming from someone who likes long gaming sessions with a pair of pc38x's that i can wear all day with no signs of heat retention, it was awfully noticeable within 30 minutes.
As i said, the plug was faulty and a slight touch introduces cutting in and out, so back they go.

Treble is very good and non-intrusive on DT900 PRO X, and even feels slightly subdued on the DT700 PRO X.This looks like it’s worthy of a testdrive, thanks
The treble still looks scary to me but at least the tuning also reveals a warm foundation underneath. Both the bass and low mids are elevated which could help with the overall balance (I prefer ief neutral).
I’ll soon find out for myself anyhoo.
